The Four Suffering Results of Negative Karma

So, the creating the result similar to the cause of telling lie, that negative karma, again when one is born in the human realm, then again one does the action of telling lies, because of the previous habit or the imprint. Then the possessed result, that is that, the place where one live when one become human being again there is a lot of people cheating, in other words, give harm. And then also, for example, if one is running restaurant, something like that the work doesn't get succeed, there's no development during, that restaurant, while another owner is running then receive a lot of people, but then suddenly when the owner changed you see even though it is same place, same house, same quality, same material, even though it is same, facilities are same, even though the whole facilities house, everything is the same what the previous owner's time what he had, even though it is the same, but suddenly when another owner comes not necessarily that it can be successful. [long pause] Not necessarily during the next owner's time the restaurant is going to be successful, even though the same place, the same facility, that alone does not become the reason that it is going to be successful. So there are like this, during one person's time they are very very successful and when another person takes over it is very hard, not so many people come, so suddenly there's change things like that.

Or even transportation, like bus or taxi or even these vehicles, ships during one driver's time even though it is same vehicle, but during one driver who does the work, during that person's time, much success and receives a lot of passengers, many things, but when another person uses the ship and the bus, those things, during another person's time, another captain or another driver's time even though it is the same but doesn't receive, difficult to receive passengers, things like that. So these kinds of things is also you see unsuccess, possessed result of past karma the telling lie.

So outside, so therefore, the external arrangement is not the, usually people think that is the answer, but that is not the only answer for success. There is need something else, there is another answer the real answer is the karma. The owner, the person who runs that having karma, such as, putting the other way, practicing morality, that's good karma morality practiced in the past, abandoned these non-virtuous actions such as stealing or the telling lies, these things, however these negative karmas, so this is the main answer. So the outside facilities are the conditions, it's not the first answer. So if the first one is missing, if the karma is missing, no matter how much the second one has, the conditions, one is able to make up, doesn't become successful, that alone. Like that example, we should similarize with other works, with other things in the life. Then also not becoming harmonious and you see with others and you see one meet, wherever one goes, East, West, wherever you see alwayou see meet, most time one meet people cheating, other people cheating, one get cheated by others. In our life time to time we experience these things, so that is the, this is a result of past karma of telling lies, so it's good to remember, it's good to recognize. So by recognizing it only gives inspiration to abandon the cause, to not have same problem in the future.

And then the place has you see many fears, the place where one lives has many dangers you see for life. There are many things to be scared of.

Then, the second one, the slandering, so that which become negative karma you see if it's done by the self-cherishing thought, having completed that action then one experience the ripened aspect result in the lower realms and then even one is born as human being later, then one cannot bring unity in the family or harmonious you see in the family or in a group, with the other people that whom one live together you see whether it is Dharma center, whether it is the family, whether it's nunnery or monastery or the however the people with whom one live together you see there's no unity, no harmony, cannot come together you see so kind of, others kind of do not like oneself hts against to oneself, because the past karma you see slander that you see causing disunity among others, between others, making somebody against to another person you see like that. So this life, other people you see one experiences the result that other people talking bad things about oneself you know whether oneself has the case or not, like that, making other people dislike to you, you know like that.

Then creating the result similar to the cause, doing the action again, slandering. Then, possessed result you see the place, when one is born as human being, place where one live, very difficult, very hard life, not easy you know so if one has to go out you see either you have to climb up, either have to come down. Not so much to go straight. Anyway, this sounds like describing Lawudo you know the Solu Khumbu, Himalayas. Anyway, either, so there's no equal place, very high mountains, rocky, very down, kind of rough place you see difficult place, very difficult to you see travel or to go.

And then also having many fears in that place, many causes of danger. So you see in the schools, when one works in the schools as a teacher or when one works in the universities you know you see however in the society, in the Dharma center or monastery so it's alwayou see, one experiences many times that you see other people are jealous, talking bad things about oneself to other people, making against you know the other person making against, to dislike against to oneself, so among the teachers in school or among the professors in university, there are many, so inside there are many other problems like that you see so you see one is experiencing. For example in the office you see when one is working in the office then the other people you see somebody talks, slanders between one who gives job, employer, or the manager, anyway people in the office, the other person jealous and then they slander, then these people become dislike to you or like that, other people are not happy with you. Anyway so these are the results of such these karmas you know.

Then, so all these problems you see all these four problems you see to do with the appearance, came from one's own karma, that which is one's own thought. So, the opposite, the harmonious, unity, that you get along with others you see unity, other people like instead of dislike, cruel to oneself you see dislike you see jealous, like that, they like you. So this is the experiencing of the result similar to the cause of living in the morality abstaining from the slandering. And then creating the result similar to the cause, again living in the vow to not slander. Then the opposite you see to this ugly place or the uncomfortable place you see even place where one lives you see even easy, lot of comfort, much easier to travel and less, where there's no danger for life you know no cause of fear from the place, things like that, those are the possessed result in the past life, when we experience these things so you see now we are experiencing these positive results you see these good ones you know desirable ones, so this is the result of our past karma, we are experiencing now the result of the past karma the good karma you see practicing morality, having abandoned the slandering. And then also rebirth, having human rebirth.

So, like this, one should, first one should meditate on the four suffering results of each complete negative karma, then after that one should think of the good results, the desirable results, those happiness that you experience in this life, that, knowing that it you see caused by you see the morality, living in vow, morality not just doing those things but living in the vow you see living in the pledge you see not doing these non-virtuous actions. So should meditate like that you know. So the different experiences that one has, bad or good, the happiness, suffering, so relate to the different karmas created by oneself.

Then harshly speaking, that which become negative karma as it is done out of self-cherishing thought and you see the complete negative karma has four suffering results and the ripening aspect result in the lower realms, then even the time when one get born as human being and that time one experiences the result similar to the cause [pause]. That is this, when one speaks to other people, when one listens to other people's talk you see then one hear you see uninteresting or disturbing words, one hears the words that which one dislike you know disturbing words. And then you see even, the words become, even one speak you see hear from others, the words become cause of fighting, somehow it get turned out cause of fighting, the words somehow turn out to upset the mind you know one's own mind, other's mind. So, even others try, doesn't mean, even they try to speak gently however sweet, but you see it appears to one's own mind as disturbing words.

Then the creating the result similar to the cause, doing the action again, harshly speaking out of anger, self-cherishing thought, doing that again. Then possessed result, even one, after some time, even one is born as human being, but one you see place where one live, very rough place, filled with thorn bushes or rocky places, kind of uncomfortable, unpleasant place, rough you know place. Then you see rough and there's no glory, no glorification, no magnificence in the place, then you see no, not having water, not having those streams, the lake or pond, water streams, waterfall, you see very unpleasant place. Then, place where there's a lot of, people, lot of evil deeds, so place having lot of cause of fear, so like that.

So times when we experience such this places you know when we are in such uncomfortable places you know ugly places, so when we hear disturbing words from other people, so, these times, again you see doing insulting to, could not control, difficult to control, doing again so those are, should know that one is experiencing the result of the, one's own karma the harshly speaking out of disturbing thoughts.

And when we experience good place, where there's a lot of island or hts water you know beautiful flowers you know green, having much glorification, magnificence to the place you know the nice park or however you see beautiful forest or park, so this, so we are experiencing the result of the, possessed result of the past good karma lived in morality, practicing morality the living in the vow abandoning the harshly speaking. And you see when we hear other people talk, do not hear disrespect you see harshly speaking, often hear nice, respectful talk you see so always you see pleasant, so all these things we are experiencing the result of the past good karma the morality, abandoned the harshly speaking. So, one should recognize you see should be aware.

Then the gossiping, action of gossiping that is done out of you see the self-cherishing thought, the disturbing thoughts which makes it negative karma and so having completed this has also four suffering results. So the ripened aspect result in the lower realms, then when one is born as human being, then one experiencing the result similar to the cause. So when one talk to other people, your word does not have power, so other people do not listen, don't do what you say, what you ask, what you request. If it's servants you see they don't do, if it's higher people, some government people or some higher people that you ask for something you see word doesn't have power so they don't do.

Then, like that, then again you see creating the result similar to the cause you know gossiping again you see out of these disturbing thoughts. [pause] Gossiping is one very extensive one. Then you see the possessed result of the negative karma of gossiping you see then the crops that one planted doesn't get fruit, doesn't get result you know. If one planted, in that country or on one's own property, the things that are planted doesn't bring fruit, the time when there's needed, doesn't happen. Then you see it appears, the fruit, those things appear outside as ripened, but actually when you check, when you eat, when you bite, inside is unripened, inside is something else. So like that. They don't last a long time, those crops or those things which is you know which are planted for means of living, for enjoyment, they don't last.

...very kind of mischievous or harmful place. Then, so creating the result similar to the cause, gossiping again with the disturbing thoughts. So like this.

So when we experience beautiful places, pleasant places, opposite to these things, having good enjoyment you know in the country, on one's own land, fruit, those things however receiving fruit, those crops, those enjoyments you see so those are the result of the past good karma, the morality that we lived in the vow you see abandoning the gossiping, it is the possessed result of that, and then you see experiencing the result similar to the cause of that is when you talk to other people, words has so much power, so therefore people listen, other people do what you ask for. So when we experience these things it's the result of past you see morality, having abandoned the gossiping.

Then again you see living in the morality abandoning the gossiping you see able to do this, is the result of the past karma living in the morality abandoning the gossiping, so like that. Then the ripening aspect result, practicing morality, living in the vow abandoning the gossiping then you see rebirth in deva, human being, so that, so this one I didn't get to mention with each one however each complete negative karma has the ripening aspect result the lower realms, so this one, each of these moralities, abandoning each of these negative karmas has ripening aspect result you see deva, human realm, so should realize that. So at this time that we have a human body so you see from this, having practiced morality, living in the vow abandoning these things, these negative karmas.

Then the covetousness, ill will and heresy, these three, there's no way to transform into virtue, these three, the actions of mind, there's no way to transform into virtue. So these three are not, there's no way to transform into virtue so there's no permit hts Buddha hasn't permitted, because from the side of the sentient beings, these covetousness and ill will, heresy, there's no way to transform, like the killing and stealing, those things can be transformed into virtue, but these things you see when these things are stopped then there is nothing to be transformed. So killing, for example, the killing is there, but it transforms into virtue, but here in this case, while heresy is rising you see transform into virtue, there's no way to become like that you know. While it is happening to transform it into virtue.

So, the complete action, negative karma of the covetousness, that has four suffering results and the ripening aspect result in the lower realms and then the experiencing the result similar to the cause, that one is, one doesn't get, even when one is born as human being, one doesn't get success. Other people don't let to have success, things like that. And then having you see anyway, so having strong desire, no satisfaction, nor finding satisfaction, then so this is the result of the past negative karma, by the covetousness. Then, so not letting, other people not letting for one to have success, how that is due to covetousness, so you see in the past that one has covetousness others' perfections you know then you see not, because one cling, grasp these, so one doesn't let others, one interferes others to have these things or you see to have success. So, due to that then in this life you see other people, like in business or things like that, so other people, in this life, when one is born as a human being, other people interfere for success, not letting oneself to get, to gain the materials or whatever the success is.

So, then, creating the result similar to the cause, then you see again when one is born as human being, again you see creating negative karma arising covetousness. And the possessed result to do with the place, the perfections in the country gradually, where one live, perfections in the place where one live you see they gradually, year by year they decrease, it degenerates, year by year, month by month, day by day, they get degenerated. Maybe the economic problems, for example, year by year they become more and more expensive, things become more and more and more expensive, the cost of things become higher and higher, more and more expensive. And things becoming less and less, production becoming less and less, or quality of crops or the productions becoming less and less you know quality becomes worse and worse. So can relate like that.

So, so one should meditate also the, I left out you see the four good results of the morality living in the vow abandoning the covetousness. So having, mind feeling satisfaction, content, those are the result of, when we feel like this, then this is the result of past good karma. And then, so however all the opposite of the four suffering results what we experience from time to time then these are the results of the past good karma lived in the vow abstaining from the covetousness.

Now here the ill will so having completed the negative karma of ill will, has four suffering results, the ripening aspect result in the lower realms and the experiencing the result similar to the cause, time when one is born as a human being, then one receives much harm from others, one doesn't seek things that which are beneficial, one seeks things which are not beneficial, which harms you see one seeks for that, things which are harmful.

Doing things which is not beneficial, which is harmful you see. Then creating the result similar to the cause, that doing again the ill will in that life. Then possessed result of that, place where one live you see when one is born as human being you know place where one live there's a lot of harm, lot of contagious disease, epidemic or contagious disease, disease that you get from others you know that get spread from others, then, so there are many diseases, tuberculosis or AIDS, or colds, big or small, many harm one receive from others. Then, there is fighting where one is, wars happening, many vicious animals, lot of spirit harm, naga harms, snakes, scorpions, mosquitoes, so where there are a lot of creatures that harms, place where one is, one being in a place where there are a lot of harms you know like this. Then also thieves, robbers, however place where one lives, where one is you see a lot of people and creatures, so many things, disease you see that harms to oneself.

So when one experiences the good result you see opposite to these things, that what one you see other people don't give harm, only benefit you, and one doesn't look for harm, what one is seeking for is not harm, one is seeking for something that is beneficial and so yeah, this is the result of the past good karma, lived in the vow abstaining from, abandoning the ill will.

Then again you see living in the vow of morality abandoning the ill will, so that's the result of the past, the morality. And place where there is no, good place where there is no war, fighting, danger for the life you see where there's no those harmful insects you know vicious animals that harm to oneself, where there's no contagious disease, these things you know so being in the healthy environment, happy place you see so that is, when we experience these things, it is the result of the past good karma, living in the vow of abandoning the ill will, the possessed result of that. Then you see ripening aspect result of this morality is you see rebirth of hts the body of the happy migratory being, deva, human being.
