Benefits of Lama Tsongkhapa's Teachings

...most to sentient being, okay, and as well as best for us, for all sentient beings, beneficial, okay.

I go for refuge to Buddha, Dharma, Sangha, until the enlightenment is achieved. Due to the three-time merits, past, present, future merits collected by oneself, and three-time merits collected by others, all the sentient beings, including bodhisattvas and buddhas, may I achieve enlightenment in order to benefit for all the transmigratory beings.

So we’re going to do, the, do three times, the refuge and generating bodhicitta, okay.

Sang gye chho dang tsog kyi chog nam la
Jang chup bar du dag ni kyab su chi
Dag gi jin sog gyi pay tsog nam kyi
Dro la pen chir sang gye drub par shog [3x]

With the wish to liberate the sentient beings, transmigratory beings, from the oceans of samsaric suffering and causes, I always go for refuge to Buddha, Dharma, Sangha. And, with the wisdom and compassion, and perseverance, I abide in the presence of all the buddhas, and generate bodhicitta.

Dro nam dral do sam pa yi
Sang gye cho dang gen dun la
Jang chub nying por chi kyi bar
Tag par dag ni kyab su chi

She rab nying tse dang che pay

Sang gye dun du nay gyi te

Then next, to actualize the Lama Tsongkhapa’s, who is manifestation of Manjushri, who is the manifestation of all the buddhas’ wisdom, as well as who is manifestation of Compassion Buddha, Compassion Buddha who is the manifestation of all the buddhas’ compassion, and he’s also the manifestation of Vajrapani, who is the manifestation of all the buddhas’ power. So that means Lama Tsongkhapa is the embodiment of all three, embodiment of all the buddha’s compassion, omniscience, as well as perfect power. So that means he’s all the buddhas, buddhas, numberless buddhas who abide in the ten directions, Lama Tsongkhapa is the embodiment of all the buddhas, okay.

So his teaching, his teaching that which is like refined gold, okay, unified of sutra and tantra. So there’s a prayer, there’s a few prayers that expresses all the special qualities of the Lama Tsongkhapa’s teaching, special qualities about sutra and special qualities about tantra.

So now, so we’re going to read one stanza, so prayer for the center to spread, to actualize all this, especially all this, Lama Tsongkhapa’s, what he actualized and what he taught, what he wrote, and that which is taught by Buddha, okay. So ourselves to actualize that, and to benefit, and, to open the wisdom eye, Dharma wisdom eye to sentient beings, okay, and to also cause to generate compassion in the hearts of sentient beings, so liberate them, we liberate them, so, we, say, we open the wisdom eye, Dharma wisdom eye, so knowing, knowing how to achieve happiness, knowing how to abandon suffering, by knowing the cause of virtue, by knowing the cause of suffering, so they abandon cause of suffering, and then they practice cause of happiness, virtue. So we educate them, what is to be abandoned, that is harmful to you and even to others. And what is beneficial, helpful to them, and what’s beneficial, need for other sentient beings, we educate that, okay, the importance of what is to be abandoned, what is to be practiced; what is right, and what is wrong, in the life, okay, so that.

The whole world is suffering, economy going down, the whole world is suffering is not knowing, due to ignorance, not knowing what is right to practice, what is wrong to be abandoned, this is mainly due to that, so not having solved this problem. So this problem can be solved by learning Dharma, otherwise, there’s no real way, other way to understand this, without learning Dharma, without learning Buddhadharma, okay, so like that.

So, so this, say, the abbreviated, from Fifth Dalai Lama, Fifth Dalai Lama composed this, condensed the longer version that contains Lama Tsongkhapa’s special, all the special qualities of the Lama Tsongkhapa’s teachings, okay. Going to chant that, ourselves to be able to actualize, and that we’re able to benefit, we’re able to educate or spread this understanding, the words and meanings as well as the realization, experiences, to the sentient beings, to cause the sentient beings, and liberate them not only from the oceans of samsaric suffering, not only from samsara, liberate them from samsara, not only that, even from, liberate from, even from the lower nirvana, and we bring them to enlightenment, okay, full enlightenment, peerless happiness, okay.

May jung nam thar tsang may thrim dang den

De tong chog gi rim nyi nal jor gyi

Next prayer, "Due to all the past, present, future merits collected by oneself, three time merits collected by others, all the sentient beings including bodhisattvas and buddhas, then may yourself, oneself, and all the family members, and all the students here, all of us here, all the students coming, everybody who, students, and then everybody who comes to the center, Chokyi Gyaltsen Center, so, who came in the past, who are coming now, who will come in the future, so everybody, may we, then all the family, and everyone’s family members, okay, and not only Chokyi Gyaltsen Center, but all the rest, in FPMT, all the rest of the students, and all the members, all the staffs of the Center, okay, then, so everybody and all their family members, and so many people in this world, different parts of the world, who serve the organization, bear so much hardships, who offer service to the organization, to benefit for sentient beings, and teachings of Buddha, okay, and those who rely upon me, whom I promised to pray, whose name is given to me, may all those people, so may we, in all the lifetimes, may we be guided by Lama Tsongkhapa being Mahayana guru, directly guided by Lama Tsongkhapa in all the lifetimes being Mahayana guru, okay, and never be separated from the pure path, that which is admired by all the buddhas, okay." So we do this prayer.

Tse rab kun tu gyal wa tsong kha pai
Theg chog she nyen ngo su dze pai thu
Gyal way ngag pai lam zang de nyi lay
Kay chig tsam yang dog par ma gyur chig

Then the, then we pray to be able to practice bodhicitta, okay. The first stanza from the Eight Verses of Thought Transformation, Kadampa Geshe Langri Tangpa’s most precious teaching. I myself, however the sentient beings think of me, however they treat me, it doesn’t matter. However, whether they are angry to me or whether they rob me, or whatever, compassion, whatever, or they harm or help, whatever. But from my side, what I’m going to do, ?dag ni, okay, then towards all the sentient beings, so all the sentient beings comes in friend, stranger, enemy, comes in these three, so, however, including these three, okay, so towards all, I myself, what I’m going to do back towards the sentient beings, how I’m going to practice, live my life, is towards sentient beings, okay, to all the, say, sentient beings, then regard them, see, say, regard them as more special, more precious, not only diamond, gold, but wish-granting jewel, more precious than, more precious, more special than wish-granting jewel, that which is the most precious one among the external material possessions, the most precious one, wish-granting jewel.

So in the past the wheel-turning kings, so they created so much merit, they were able to find in the ocean, okay. And they cleaned the mud, and three ways cleaning, then last one cleaning the smell with the cotton. Then you put this on the day of full moon, that night, the day, of fifteenth, then you put on the top of the banner, which is on top of the house, then you pray to that jewel, whatever material comfort, I mean whatever material possession or material enjoyment you need, you pray, then it immediately get materialized [snaps fingers], say, it’s a little bit like Sai Baba what he does, so give an idea here. So, anyway, so he, say, the person, that person has so much merit, and the power of the jewel, so then, whatever the person pray, material enjoyment, it gets materialized [snaps fingers] immediately. So, that’s why it’s called, wish-granting jewel, okay.

So I, from my side, no matter however they treat me, whatever they think of me, it doesn’t matter. From my side, what I’m going to do is towards sentient beings, okay, so means, which means friends, strangers, enemies, okay, towards everybody, so, I regard them more precious, more precious then wish-granting jewel, not just one-wish granting jewel, but the wish-granting jewel fill the whole sky. This one sentient being is more precious than that many jewels, okay, filled the whole sky. So all that is nothing. The value is nothing, according to value of this, how important, precious to me, my life, this one sentient being, okay, this one insect or this one person, okay, so, like that.

So, say, so without depending on the sentient being, even you own that much jewel, cannot achieve liberation, cannot be liberated from the lower, say, you can’t achieve higher rebirth, with that alone you can’t, without depending on kindness of sentient beings you can’t achieve the liberation from samsara, oceans of samsaric suffering, you can’t achieve that, ?also ?in ?name you can’t achieve, okay? And you can’t achieve enlightenment, so like that, okay?

But, but without depending on, one single wish-granting jewel, one single, without depending on a single jewel, for example, Milarepa, many of those who achieved enlightenment in one brief lifetime, within a few number of years, they didn’t have even one rupee, they didn’t have even one dollar, one rupee, okay, besides jewels, and they achieved enlightenment, okay, practiced Dharma, achieved enlightenment, there, so depend on kindness of sentient beings.

So, that much, the sky filled with the jewels is nothing, the value is nothing, compared to the kindness, value of one sentient being to you. So, much more unbelievable, unbelievable precious, so this one sentient being, not only you can be liberated from the lower realm suffering, and achieve higher rebirth, not only that, but achieve liberation from samsara, okay, by practicing the path, okay the, you achieve higher rebirth, [a few words inaudible] you achieve higher rebirth, by practicing refuge, by practicing, protecting, abandoning the ten nonvirtues, practicing virtue, ten virtues, like that, so protecting karma, and taking refuge, you see, you do that. So by the kindness of sentient beings, that you’re able to do this is because, depending on kindness of even that one sentient being, okay, so like that.

And then by depending on the kindness of sentient being you practice the three higher trainings, then you achieve liberation from samsara. By depending on the kindness of sentient beings, depending on sentient beings you develop compassion, bodhicitta, then, you enter Mahayana path, then you are able to complete the Mahayana path, achieve full enlightenment, okay.

Then you’re able to liberate numberless sentient beings from the oceans of samsaric suffering, numberless sentient beings from the hell realm, hungry ghosts, animals, human beings, suras, asuras, intermediate state beings, they’re numberless from each realm, you’re able to liberate them from the oceans of samsaric suffering, you’re able to bring them to enlightenment, okay. So, you’re able to bring them to full enlightenment, okay, so by kindness of this one, even this one sentient being, okay. So this, what you can do, benefit, what you get from this sentient being, most unimaginable, unimaginable, unimaginable. So this sentient being how, most kind, most precious, this one sentient being to you in the life.

So, therefore, all that jewel, gold, diamond, billion, zillion dollars, fill the sky, all this is nothing. Then even the wish-granting jewel filled the whole sky, is nothing, that is nothing, compared to the value of one sentient being to you.

Okay, so from my side, I regard, every sentient being most precious than wish-granting jewel, okay, that I can achieve, the reason, that I can achieve supreme success, happiness of future lives, liberation from samsara, enlightenment, okay, the supreme success, highest success, achieve enlightenment.

Then there’s, what I mentioned before, you’re able to liberate numberless sentient beings from the oceans of samsaric suffering, and then bring them to full enlightenment, can imagine that. So okay, so therefore, therefore, my mind cherish them, okay, cherish them, then with that, then with my body, speech, and mind, I offer service to sentient beings, all the time, all the time, okay.

No matter, how to say, whether I have problem, or whether, say, whether happy life or unhappy life, depressed or happy life, whatever happens to me, but this is what I’m going to practice: my mind cherish others, then, with my body, speech, and mind, with my body, speech, and mind, serve, help other sentient beings, okay, so we chant that, okay.

Dag ni sem chen tam che la
Yi zhin nor bu lay lhag pai
Don chog drub pai sam pa yi
Tag tu che par dzin par shog

So everybody who coming to the center, past, who’s coming now, who will come in the future, so everybody, able to practice this, towards all sentient beings, no harm, numberless sentient beings that do not receive harm from those students who are coming to learn Dharma here, do not receive harm, and they receive only happiness, happiness of this life, happiness of future lives, liberation from samsara, enlightenment, the ?numberless they receive from the people coming here, okay, so pray this, okay.

Then, so we pray that the center to be most beneficial to all sentient beings, okay, to cause, to be able to cause all the sentient beings, to develop devotion to Buddha, Dharma, Sangha, and to have faith in karma, in the hearts of all the sentient beings, and especially develop bodhicitta in all their hearts, the root, great compassion, bodhicitta in the hearts of all sentient beings, then, on top of that, then the special one, spread Lama Tsongkhapa’s teaching in the hearts of all sentient beings, okay. The center, so this particular benefit of the center to all the sentient beings, okay. So we pray that as well.

Chi-ru nyen-tho cho-pa zhi-zhing dul
Nang-du rim-nyi nal-jor deng-dang-dan
Do-ngag lam-zang gal-me drog-su-khyer
Losang gyal way ten par gye gyur chig

So then, we pray that, due to all the past, present, future merits collected by oneself, three time merits collected by others, may the bodhicitta, source of all the happiness, success, from where you achieve all your happiness, up to enlightenment, this life happiness, future life happiness, liberation from samsara, enlightenment, you achieve from bodhicitta, okay. So, to actualize this within all of us, in this very lifetime, and we help to cause to generate bodhicitta in the hearts of all sentient beings, okay, then to achieve enlightenment as quick as possible, not only free from samsara, quickly, but to achieve enlightenment as quick as possible. So we pray.

And then, that way, may the world, filled with perfect peace and happiness, okay, filled with perfect peace and happiness, by generating bodhicitta in everyone’s heart, okay. Then the centers able to cause this to all sentient beings.

Jang chub sem chog rin po che
Ma kye pa nam kye gyur chig
Kye wa nyam pa me pa yang
Gong nay gong du phel war shog

Then may the bodhicitta be actualized, due to all the three time merits collected by oneself, collected by others, may the bodhicitta be actualized in the hearts of all the leaders of the world, so that all the million people in the country will have so much perfect peace and happiness, they’re led in the correct path of peace, okay. And then, especially then the leaders of mainland China, to generate bodhicitta in all their hearts, okay.

Jang chub sem chog rin po che
Ma kye pa nam kye gyur chig
Kye wa nyam pa me pa yang
Gong nay gong du phel war shog

Then, due to all the past, present, future merits collected by oneself, three time merits collected by others, may the bodhicitta be actualized in the hearts of everybody who follow different religions, okay, may the bodhicitta be actualized in everybody’s heart, anybody who follows different, all the hundred, thousand religions in this world, in everyone’s heart, the bodhicitta to be actualized, so that the world filled with perfect peace and happiness, everybody enjoy their life, only benefiting each other, okay. Whatever they do it becomes cause of enlightenment, and cause of happiness of all sentient beings.

Jang chub sem chog rin po che
Ma kye pa nam kye gyur chig
Kye wa nyam pa me pa yang
Gong nay gong du phel war shog

Then, next one, I, this is Nagarjuna’s prayer, this is telling how we should live our life. So at the beginning mentioned in the Eight Verses, first stanza, how sentient beings so precious, so kind to you, to oneself, okay. Then from your side, what you going to do, how you’re going to live life towards them, cherish them, always cherish them, and then, with body, speech and mind, serve, work for them, serve them, okay.

So here, so, here, how you’re going to do that, Nagarjuna’s prayer, in the Seventy Prayers, okay.

I, myself, we pray: "May I become like wish-granting jewel for sentient beings, for all the, for every sentient being, you know, may I become wish-granting jewel, immediately [snaps fingers], without delay even a second, all their wishes for happiness, immediately, instantly, get actualized, experienced, so, may I become like wish-granting jewel towards the transmigratory beings," okay, so that’s very important.

Then, and then, dag ni yi zhin nor dag dro wa yi, dro wai ngo wo da dag drup ba, whatever wishes the happiness what they have, immediately [snaps fingers] you’re able to fulfill, okay.

Then, next one, pag sam shing ne shing gam dro wa shog, so, like a wish-fulfilling, in the pure land, the trees are wish-fulfilling. So when you are in front of the tree, whatever wish generated, whatever generated, what wish you, wish for happiness, whatever you generate, immediately [snaps fingers] it gets, it happens [snaps fingers], so like that, may I become like wish-granting tree to all the sentient beings, to be able to [snaps fingers] fulfill all their wishes immediately, okay.

This is Nagarjuna’s prayer. So it’s a very important prayer to do that in, especially in the morning, when we generate bodhicitta motivation, then, at the end to do that, it’s very, very good.

Then to remember, then to remember this in our daily life, from time to time, especially when it comes to arise strong anger, about to arise anger, or in such those situations to arise, to remember this is very important, and also, strong ill will or jealous mind, or strong desire, painful attachment, or whatever, so it’s good to ?arise this Nagarjuna’s prayer, okay.

So, may I be like a wish-granting jewel, able to fulfill the wishes, all their wishes, okay, then like wish-granting tree, so like that.

Dag ni yi shin nor dag dro wa yi
Dro wai ngo wo da dag drup ba dang
Pag sam shing ne shing gam dro wa shog

Then next one is the one His Holiness always says, His Holiness, every morning he practices this, of course, this is for inspiration for ourselves, for people. It’s just, this [a couple of words inaudible] practice of this.

As long as the space exists, means sky exists, okay. Then, the transmigratory beings exists, I will abide until that time, May I be able to pacify the sufferings of the transmigratory beings.

Ji si nam kar ney bar dang
Dro wa ji si ney gyur ba
De si dag ni de gyur __
Dro way dug ngel sel wa shog

So, I want, everybody to think, this is [ribbon for opening ceremony] self-cherishing thought, ours, and all sentient beings, okay, and then this is also root of samsara, ignorance, okay, the root of samsara, the ignorance not knowing the ultimate nature of self and the aggregates, okay, root of samsara, root, from where all the delusions, karma comes, all the suffering comes. Then the scissors here, these are golden scissors, the scissor is bodhicitta, ?cutting the self-cherishing thought, bodhicitta, and that ignorance, is the wisdom realizing emptiness, okay, so two truths, conventional truth, ultimate truth, okay. [Quite a few words inaudible], okay. Then everybody meditate.

Chok gyi gyal po tsong kha pay
Cho tsul nam par phel wa la
Geg kyi tshan ma zhi wa dang
Thun kyen ma lu tsang war shog

Da dag zhan gyi du sum dang
Drel way tsog nyi la ten nay

Okay.

[Ribbon cut, group applauds]
