Lamrim Teachings from Kopan 2019
Lama Zopa Rinpoche
Series editor Gordon McDougall
These teachings were given by Lama Zopa Rinpoche at the 52nd Kopan Meditation Course, held at Kopan Monastery, Nepal, in November–December 2019. Transcribed and edited by Ven. Joan Nicell, and subsequently lightly edited by Gordon McDougall. The course took place in the newly finished Chenrezig Gompa with a record attendance of around 270 participants. This was just before the COVID19 pandemic hit and the world went into lockdown.
Rinpoche teaches on the lamrim, the stages of the path to enlightenment, illustrating key points with colorful anecdotes and engaging personal stories. However, his main emphasis during the course is on emptiness. Using the wonderful verse from the Vajra Cutter Sutra, “A star, a defective view, a butter lamp flame…” over several days Rinpoche explores how the cause of all our problems stems from misreading reality. Rinpoche, a master at teaching emptiness, does so here in great depth and with great clarity.
You can find videos, audio files and transcripts of all Rinpoche’s lectures from Kopan 2019 here, along with two discourses by Khadro-la, given during this course.
