Teachings before Mitukpa Initiation, Taiwan 2007 (Audio and Unedited Transcripts)

Lama Zopa Rinpoche gave teachings and a Mitukpa initiation at Shakyamuni Center, Taichung, Taiwan, February 25-26, 2007. Included here are excerpts from the teachings given before the initiation. It is not appropriate to post the recordings of the actual initiation.

There were also some general teachings given during and after the initiation, but the recording was not clear enough to publish online. Those teachings were able to be transcribed, though, and we have posted the edited version of the entire series (less the actual initiation) here.

Mitukpa Initiation Part Three: The Results of Negative Karma

One who seeks, one who leave, [pause] leave behind the self-cherishing thought and seeks enlightenment, the goal, seeks enlightenment for sentient beings, then for, in order to achieve that practices six paramitas, all those, so forth, that is the higher capable being, having that attitude then to succeed, to achieve enlightenment for sentient beings then for that method then six paramitas. Then middle capable being, that leave behind the samsara and then the attitude like that, then aversion to samsara, to be free from, then seek, aim is liberation then for success of that then practicing the three higher trainings. Then the lower capable being, leave behind this life, means the attachment clinging to this life and doing work with this attachment, doing work for this life with this attachment, so leave behind then aim to achieve happiness of future lives, then for that, success of that, living in the morality. So there are three capable beings, graduate path of three capable beings.

So then the other one, who only seeks happiness of this life, goal to achieve only, the goal that and then attachment to, attitude of life, attachment to this life, then doing the work for that, which actions are all nonvirtue because the motivation of life is attachment to this life then that is pure nonvirtue, so therefore the result is only suffering, result is only suffering, even including, like Pabongka Dechen Nyingpo used in Liberation in the Palm, the relating to four people reciting Tara prayers, then the last one who recited Tara prayer only for this life happiness, so that did not become virtue and so like that, that means the action become nonvirtue. Even though the subject is Dharma, but action becomes nonvirtue, and the result will be only suffering.

For example, another example, there are wrathful deities, there are enlightened beings but then you chant those mantras with anger to harm somebody, to harm other people, I use another example. So therefore, so then that’s pure nonvirtue, because your motivation is anger to harm to somebody, the other sentient being. So even though that deity is enlightened being, so that, so of course that’s creating karma to be reborn in the lower realm, even in hell. So because you are chanting a mantra of deity, because it’s enlightened being, not necessarily from that it becomes virtue.

It is similar. Yeah, I should stop there. Yeah, like this. Yeah, mention first.

[Chun Ru: Rinpoche, for the higher being, you say they leave what behind and then? For the higher level beings?]

Higher capable being, they leave behind self-cherishing thought, ego, then the aim is enlightenment, to achieve enlightenment for sentient beings. Then for the success of that, practice the six paramitas, the bodhisattva deeds.

So [pause] if we are born, get reborn in the hell realm, then there’s most unbearable suffering one has to experience, that no matter, for unimaginable length of time, no matter how much you don’t like, karma’s already experienced and so you have to experience that, how long it takes time, how many eons it takes time you have to experience. So that time all the obstacles gathered, as Geshe Sopa Rinpoche used to say. Now we have all the opportunities to practice Dharma, but that time all the obstacles. So, what makes the suffering so heavy is, one thing is the body is so big, huge and, huge, due to heavy karma, so then the, and also, like when we have infection, something hair or something touches the skin, very, very thin skin, infection, wound, how painful, so like that their skin, so when born in hell then the body, like that, the skin is like that, so unbelievable, that much suffering, so unbelievable heavy. And then also the other one is, so the skin not thick, something like that. So another one is unbelievable length of time, so unbelievable length of time, for example, the very first hell realm, called Being Alive Again and Again, ?Yang Sur, Being Alive Again and Again, so if you are born there, then the length of life is one great trag trig, the length of life is, that first hell realm is one great trag trig, so as I mentioned the other day also, ten times one hundred million is one tre bum, and ten tre brum is a great tre bum, and ten great tre bum is one trag trig, and then ten trag trig is a great trag trig. So in this Yang Sur, Being Alive Again and Again so there you have to suffer, if you are born there that many length of time. Not only that, on top of that then the, on top of that the two great tre bums, then after that six tre bum. So that is the length of life how much, how long the life span is, how much you have suffer in the very first one, and that is supposed to be the lightest suffering, compared to the next hell realm. Compared to others, it is supposed to be the lightest suffering if you compare to the, that last number eight, then this is extremely light, extremely short and light.

But however, as I mentioned also in the past, all the human beings’ fire put together, how hot it is, it’s like cool air, like air conditioning, like cool air. One tiny fire spark from the hell is much more hotter, unbelievable hotter compared to that, compared to one tiny fire spark from hell, all the human beings’ fire energy put together is like cool air-conditioning, so you can get the idea from that how hot it is one tiny fire spark from hell. So like this, how heavy the hot suffering is. So in the first, Being Alive Again and Again in that first category.

And then the Black Line, the next one is much, [pause] the length of life is double, the life span is much suffering, the life span is double the first one and the suffering, so like that, much, so much more heavier. Then the Gathered and Crushed, so that one is now even much longer than, double the second and then suffering is much, much more heavier. And then, that having killed insects and so forth, so appear those iron mountains appeared in the form of those animals’ heads and then due to karma, due to your negative karma, then you’re crushed between those huge mountains of iron, crushed again and again, so then like waterfall blood coming. However, like that it goes on and on, until your karma finishes. So, as I mentioned, now this is much longer than, life span, and much hotter than the second one, so can you imagine. So, inexpressible.

Then the Crying, then Great Crying. Now the Crying, then the life span is much longer than the one, [pause] Gathered and Crushed. Then suffering is much heavier, so much heavier. Then, the iron house oneness with fire, suddenly you go inside, due to karma, and then experience unbelievable length of time those sufferings, those heavy sufferings. Then even that is finished, when that karma is finished, there’s another one outside, then again experience unbelievable length of time, that is Great Crying, so unbelievable suffering, life pan is much, much longer and then suffering is far more greater.

Then the Hot and Extremely Hot. Due to your negative karma then those, at the very expansive, not expensive, expansive, I’m not sure whether there’s expensive ones in the hell realm. Anyway, the expansive, the container then there’s molten, liquid of the molten iron, the hot liquid, and then one get cooked in that and then like similar to cooking food. So then the karmic guardians, as they move with the tools, then this, all the, when they move up, like food when it moves up, then all the flesh melted from the bones. Then when move up all the flesh comes back due to karma, then again go, then all the flesh melted. So, and then the extremely hot liquid, molten, and then karmic guardians they put in your mouth, and then ask what you want, then they put this in the mouth and so burns stomach, all that. So there are many different things, all the rest of the hot hell, extremely hot suffering. There are various things, whole body is fastened with the iron, hot-red burning iron, and then completely fastened, completely tightened that, or then like how you put noodles, like that, there are so many different things, the Extremely Hot, so many different, yeah, the hot sufferings, Hot and Extremely Hot sufferings. Then, so depending, the negative karma. So the result telling lie, all those, then the tongue is like a field, like stretched out then they’re plowing on that, using like a field, so putting, stretched out and putting stakes around. So unimaginable suffering due to karma.

Then the last one, eighth, Extremely Hot, sorry, Inexhaustible Suffering realm, the number eighth, that the way to discriminate a sentient being is only, not by shape, shape it is like firewood, like that, oneness, totally red, oneness with fire, that you can’t differentiate from the shape. So you differentiate from the sound. So while it’s burning, then you hear sound of crying. And, however, the length of life is one intermediate eon. That is the heaviest suffering in the lower realms, in the whole entire samsara, that is the heaviest suffering, so one intermediate eon, life span unbelievable length of time.

So then there is eight cold sufferings, like the ice mountains, your body is caught like a nail under the shoes, like a nail put in the floor, like that, completely caught in the ice, icy mountains, however there is all this, having the heaviest, like the other hot one, heavier and heavier each stage, and longer and longer suffering and then, [pause] Having Blister and then having Burst Blister, then Achoo, then Kyiphu, those expressions of sufferings, then having Tightened Teeth, then cracking like, I don’t know which one is first but cracking like a lotus, like a lotus flower, that is not for pleasure but it’s cracking like that, unbelievable cold. Then like utpali flower cracking, then it is much heavier, much more heavier than before, so your whole body becomes like oneness with ice then cracking, so many hundreds, thousands, of cracks. [pause] Then the great one, cracking upali flower, so I’m not sure there. So however, then same as before hot one, the next stage is heavier and they last much, much longer. So that is the nature of hell.

However, basically these are results of ten nonvirtues. And then there is six or four ordinary hell realms, that the whole ground is like swords laid out, so wherever you stand it cuts, so due to karma, so this is actualized then you experience suffering. Then the forest of leaves which is like sword, leaves sword forest then the, so then you climb, then cutting body, goes through and then so much unbelievable suffering.

Then this is called ?Shar ma ri dongpo, so your loved ones calling from the top of the trees, then you try to climb up then all the branches, leaves becomes like swords. They all bend down and go through your body and then the copper dogs, dogs they chase you, from behind they eat, and then the eagles or birds, your karmic appearance, eagles or the hawks, however, then they take out your eyeballs, in front, do that then behind the big dogs. So finally if you reach on top, then again your loved ones call you down below of the tree. So again try to come down then all the branches of trees again goes up and then goes through the body, so like that, unbelievable suffering. [pause]

Then the ?Che wa ra me, that one is easy to get the idea. So that is, when there is a volcano, the lava, so it is like oceans of lava, so that, so you are inside, due to karma you are born there, inside that, and then until your karma finishes you are drowned in that, suffer so much. So there might be some connection, the lava coming from the ground, from under the, from inside the ground comes out, so I wonder whether there’s some connection the hell realm and this lava that comes out, so I think ?Chu wa ra me, I think it’s like that, I think there’s some similarity.

[Tibetan] they are like mud, like a septic tank, inside like a septic tank, however the mud, the inside there are so many animals that have beak, like the bird has very long beak, anyway, the animals inside, very, like a needle, very long one and they go through the body, so while you are drowned in that, totally filthy, dirty, until your karma finishes, unbelievable length of time you experience. Then after there is four or six levels hell realms.

Then ordinary hell realm is in the indefinite place in the human realm, in the human world, different places. That can be in the form of animals, could be also human form, can be also form of animals, nothing definite. So if one is born preta then one has to experience the heaviest suffering of hunger and thirst, so could not find even one spoon of food for hundreds and thousands of years, even ten thousands years cannot find and the drop of, can’t get even a drop of water, even the wetness of, even the mark of water in the ground cannot find for hundreds, thousands of years, so unbelievable heavy suffering of hunger and thirst.

So the rest of the outside as mentioned in the, I’m not going into details, mentioned in the lam-rim like that. So also you have gone through Geshe Lama Konchog’s the lam-rim teachings.

Then, animals it’s unbelievable, so I am not going to go through stories anyway, it will take time. So however, heaviest suffering of the ignorance, because due to ignorance then suffer so much. Then eaten by another one. On top of that also people, human beings eat them, not only that they are eaten by each other. Then the suffering of hot and cold and hunger and thirst, all those things, then tortured by people, all these things. So if our body suddenly start to become animal in this life, the head slowly starts to become a cat, a cat ‘s head, or a dog’s head, cat or dog’s head or a snake head, slowly turn into that, how that would be unbelievable worry, I mean, you will spend a hundred thousand dollars, if you have money to have operation, I mean, not before but nowadays, I am not sure, anyway, so you change the skin or whatever, anyway, but it is, became, turned out dog head or cat or snake, something, I don’t know whether you can make it or not, human head, not sure. So there will be unbelievable fear, you will never fall asleep in the, not only during my initiation that, [RL] so it will be so terrifying, unbelievable, can’t bear. Even just your face get turned out, animal, the, anyway, can’t imagine, you want to die, you want to be killed, you want to commit suicide. So anyway, so the same, just after this life, you are born like that, it’s the same. So, in this life something you can see, unbearable, but next life you’re going to become like that, due to lack of understanding karma, and faith, then from the heart we really don’t think that we are going to be there, those hell, preta, animal realms, either lack of understanding of karma or no faith or mind is, yeah, there is no definite understanding of karma, faith, so you really don’t feel from the heart that you will be born in those suffering realms. Unless a doctor tells, doctor or somebody, but from the teachings, from the guru’s teaching or from the Dharma text, Buddha said, but maybe a doctor tells or some clairvoyant tells maybe there’s more faith. However, then one get frightened that, [pause] however, so we created the karma, in those realms we can be any time, even the drawings are so scary, don’t want to think about those sufferings, relate to oneself. So anyway, but in reality we have created so much karma, for example today, from this morning when we get up, with what motivation we get up? With what motivation we dressed? With what motivation we washed? So we check, with what motivation we ate food, so we check with every, maybe here, maybe little bit better because there’s a lot of practice being led, and with the motivation at the beginning, so maybe there is some virtues done today being in such a situation. So however, normally at the house then, so if we check everything, with what motivation we went to do job? So we check from morning until night, until we go to sleep, so if we check the motivation, even we think we are practicing Dharma but we will find mostly is attachment clinging to this life, this life happiness. So when we dress with that motivation, when we wash with that motivation, we went to job with that motivation, so even we try to do prayer, but, I mean, not for everybody, but can be also, if it is not examined well, it can be just for this life, health and long life and doing prayer for that, success in family, business, things like that. So, but if it is to benefit for others, success, wealth, to have wealth, to have long life, to be healthy for benefit of other sentient beings, that’s different, that becomes Dharma, but this is for oneself, this life happiness, that motivation is only nonvirtue.

So anyway, until nighttime going to be, eating food, drink, all the eating, drinking, and going to sleep, even the last thing all the motivation is just concern, that’s attachment clinging to this life happiness. So all the motivation becomes nonvirtue, here, so it means all the action become negative karma, nonvirtue. So result rebirth in lower realms as Dromtönpa asked Lama Atisha, seeking happiness of this life what the result will be. Then Lama Atisha said rebirth in the hell, hungry ghost, animal realms. So the action done unstained by attachment, clinging to this life then result is rebirth in deva, human realm, so like Lama Atisha, so like that.

So if you examine like this in the daily life, maybe here because of the conditions here, lot of practice and motivation are led, but at home, maybe yeah, so even we try to practice Dharma, but if we examine, hardly, you can find hardly become Dharma, can be like that. If we don’t examine, looks like we have practiced Dharma for many years but if we examine, it can be possibility for some people that could not find even one that has become Dharma. So I have the same experience before, I lived in monastery, Buxa, for eight years and then memorizing and some, like children play, some debate and all the, I mean for all those years, various things like that. Then when I was at Lawudo, when I found this text, Very Beginning of Dharma Practice, Thought Transformation, Opening the Door of Dharma, when I read that, only then I discovered, when I checked back, all those so many years I didn’t find even one Dharma, even one action that become Dharma.

So then on top of this, so first we must define what is negative karma, so attachment clinging to this life, this is where we spend most of life, so for some, the whole life, every single thing in the life from birth until death, whatever is done, just with this motivation. Every single thing become negative karma, whether the person lives for a hundred years, more than hundred years. So anyway, so on top of this then there is the negative karma of whatever is, so ten nonvirtues, some, so there’s abortion like that, that is killing human beings, so there is, so however, the taking others’ lives, then there is stealing, then there is telling lies, then all this hurting others with words, slandering and gossiping and so then, the covetousness and then gossiping, that is always happening, then covetousness also always happens, then that negative karma of mind, then the ill will, heresy. If we check and then many times can happen, heresy rising to Buddha, guru, Buddha, heresy rising to Dharma, Buddha, Dharma, Sangha, heresy, so when we read Buddha’s teachings, oh, maybe this may not be true, when we read Buddha’s teachings about karma, then maybe even Arya Sanghata Sutra, or when we read sutras, or especially the karma, story of the karma that, which are used, which are mentioned, Buddha has mentioned there’s unbelievable things, that hard to believe, many stories of karma that is hard to believe, like the same story that happens in the world, people write books, the actual stories that happened and the title is, whether you believe or not, but it really happened all those bodies, different bodies all those stories actually happened but, so it’s like that, similar, Buddha mentioned karmic stories in text, that hard to believe, stories which are extremely hard to believe, so to show how the karma, karma can be also, so heresy can rise, this may not be true, how can it be, then heresy rises. So, you see, if you check, that can be, many times heresy rising.

So anyway, then, as a result of heresy that complete negative karma then to do with the place, environment, where there is gold, jewels, treasures before, then now when you’re there, doesn’t happen, and then that you are in a place which is guideless, there is nobody to save you, guideless, you become guideless. Then also, then you are very easy to believe, very easy to be drawn to wrong views, so that’s why in the world there are more people who believe in no reincarnation than believe in reincarnation, there are more people who don’t believe in karma than believe in karma, there are more people who don’t believe in Buddha than believe in Buddha, so there is all this. So, even one is Buddhist before, even one becomes Buddhist, study Dharma, even you studied, even one has studied Dharma so extensively, you are become expert, can explain well but after some time you lost your faith totally in Dharma, and you believe totally wrong, yeah, no karma, no reincarnation, so early life Buddhist, even can be expert but then later, you can explain well Buddhism, scholar, but later you totally lost faith and you totally drawn to the wrong view. So this can happen due to past wrong, the heresy left imprint in the mind. I think there happened in the past like that, so no question who haven’t really studied Dharma, then some faith and then becomes somebody else, becomes another religion or totally lost faith, then that’s no question, kind of can happen. So that is also the result of past negative karma, the heresy. So there is worldly right view, so worldly right view that is faith in karma, understanding karma. Beyond from the world right view, that’s the emptiness. So then, so there is very little who understand the Prasangika view, who believe in this. Who believe in wrong teachings on emptiness there is so many, so like that, due to heresy.

Then again rising heresy in this life, in this life or future lives, again rising heresy this life because of past life, result of past life heresy. Then this causes to rise again heresy in the next lives. So all this suffering, besides the sufferings of the lower realm, so endless, becomes endless, from this one heresy, four suffering results become endless.

Then same thing, ill will, then you are born in a place where there is a lot of harm, a lot of sicknesses and animals biting, animals, even the mosquito biting, tiny insects biting, so all this, where there is wars, other people harming and animals harming, there’s a lot of contagious disease, all this, so many harms to the life, so all ______ place, yeah, things like that. Then experience, place you are born, being born in such a place then, receive all theses harms. Then again you generate ill will to others, to others in this life, due to the past, result of past negative karma, then because of that then you again, because you leave negative imprint back on the mind so then in the future lives rise ill will again. So again the four result sufferings is endless, so if you don’t purify, if you don’t purify that one negative karma.

So like that same, covetousness, then you don’t, even you plan something and you don’t succeed. So, so I think, Maitreya Project so far didn’t get actualized, so must be covetousness, so there must be covetousness, so result of covetousness, so unable to have success in the life, so that is result of the negative karma of mind, covetousness. So then the, possessed place, in the place where there is oil, where there’s treasure, and then degenerating, becoming less and less, so things like that. And then again rising covetousness in this life then leaves negative imprint back then makes to rise covetousness again in future lives, so like that, four suffering results, endless. Te rebirth in the lower realms and then three suffering results you experience in the human realm, possessed result, creating the result and experiencing the result similar to cause.

Then the same, telling lies, slandering, saying words which hurt others, then gossiping. That again here, possessed result of telling lie, so even you open business, even you open a shop no clients come, or Dharma center no clients, [RL, GL] no meditators come, no meditators come to Dharma center, and then the same, even you are a taxi driver or bus driver but not receiving guests. Even you open a restaurant, you are not receiving guests, so those are the [pause] possessed result of telling lie. And the Lamrim Chenmo quoted to Ten Bhumi Sutra, then quoted like a ship, you are sailing a ship then not receiving guests, people coming, things like that mentioned there. However, then all those, then you get cheated by other people, due to negative karma of telling lie this life or from past lives, you get cheated by other people. And also even you say something that other people believe you are telling lie, even you are telling the truth but other people believe you are telling lie, so there are many things. Then you tell lie, then again you create negative karma telling lie this life and then that, from that again then one does negative karma telling lie in the future. So like this, produce four suffering results, so endlessly until you purify that negative karma telling lie. Same thing, those other negative karma of telling lies. So gossiping, the result of gossiping then even you say something to people, your request for help or you give a talk, your talk has no power, people don’t listen to you, you ask for help, even you ask people to help, your talk has no power, your speech has no power. And you don’t succeed. Your speech has no power. Also, insulting, hurting other people, you talk to the people, you are not hurting people, you didn’t have motivation, you are not hurting but people they interpret your words hurting them, so you are not doing at all but they interpret, your words hurting them, things like that. The people misinterpret your talk and totally wrong, a hundred percent they believe that you said this, so that’s from telling lies. So, anyway, each one has four suffering results. So you experience again and again, until you purify the negative karma.

Then the relationship separating, from the slander, separation, divorce or separation. Then even one live together but not harmonious and always fight, and then all the people in the family fight, people in the office always not harmonious with you, they fight, they don’t like you, all this, so result of the sexual misconduct. Then again in this life creating sexual misconduct, because past life negative imprint sexual misconduct, then again produce four suffering results without end, again and again, future life engage in sexual misconduct. So until you purify the negative karma.

So now here, so we have all these negative karma, even this life, besides the negative karma with attachment, mostly, then on top of that, these specific from the ten nonvirtues we have this, so, imagine the unbelievable, just one day so much negative karma, so life lived with just attachment clinging to this life, whatever activity is all negative karma, so you can see one day like that, so then week, month, year, from birth, then from beginningless rebirth there is so much we haven’t purified, so much we haven’t finished experiencing, so, then whenever the happened, [snaps fingers] then the lower realms, that most terrifying lower realms, just experience. It is up to this breath, it is up to this breath, the minute when this breath stopped, that’s it. Then hell realm, hungry ghost, animal, the lower realms actualized. The minute when this breath stopped, so that’s it. There’s not something very far to travel or something, it is right after this, next life this lower realm is right after this breath stops. So before the breath stopped, it is human realm. So this can happen any time, so therefore, the purification is most urgency, without delay even a second all this negative karma even in one day, even one negative karma that which produce four suffering result endlessly, without delay even a second, even one negative karma, so then all the rest, no question, the negative karmas of past lives.

So therefore, you can see how much we need Mitukpa, Mitukpa practice, Mitukpa initiation, Mitukpa practice, meditation and recitation, no ?question that. To be qualified we need initiation. Then of course, ordained person then they, there’s all these vices, the fully ordained ones, the vices, called nye-che, then these individual confessing, these, and then this, that which makes to fall, dung she, then there’s remainder, ______, then there’s defeat, then the gelongs, fully ordained ones, by breaking the vows, all these, there’s rainfalls, of course if one is able to practice, the best one, but if one is unable to practice the rainfalls of negative karma, vices. So then the Sangha, then the more vows you have taken and unable to practice, break them, there’s so much, unbelievable, on top of that all this to purify. Then of course then if you think, then there is also bodhisattva vows, tantric vows, what things need to purify. So therefore, taking Mitukpa initiation, this practice unbelievable, unbelievable powerful, doing Mitukpa practice.

It is said in the text that, if you wear, if you recite even one time the Mitukpa mantra it purifies the negative karma that continues from life to life. Then if you keep, if you wear this mantra, Mitukpa mantra [Rinpoche recites the Mitukpa mantra], that one, if you wear on the body, make a text and then wear on the neck, then if you do that, you will never experience untimely death. You will never experience untimely death, if you keep on the body the mantra.

With compassion if you recite this mantra, if you recite animals, people, spirits, if you recite in their ear they will never get, they won’t go to the lower realms. Even people who died, already died, people who already died, born in the lower realms, you mention their name and then you recite the Mitukpa mantra with loving kindness, compassion, so if you recite one mala, you recite the Mitukpa mantra one mala or one thousand or 100,000, whatever number you recite that sentient being who was born in the hell realm, already born in hell realm, will be liberated from the hell realm, so this is extremely powerful, the Mitukpa mantra, to liberate, who is already born lower realm, if you recite this mantra by thinking of that person, then get liberated. Then also you chant this mantra mustard seed, water, and then if you sprinkle on the dead body, wash with the water, then that person’s negative karma get purified and get a higher rebirth. Then also if you write down this mantra, put on the person who died, on the head, the dead body, on the head, then definitely even that being was born in the lower realms but after seven days without doubt, without any doubt, get higher rebirth.

Then here you can see how extremely, it’s so powerful, this Mitukpa mantra, when you, at the time of death, if you see the Mitukpa mantra, if you look at the Mitukpa mantra then even the very heavy negative karma, the five uninterrupted negative karmas, killed father, mother, arhat, harmed Buddha, caused disunity among the Sangha, all this gets purified and the very heavy negative karma, abandoned the holy Dharma, which is heavier than destroyed all the holy objects, statues, stupas, scriptures in this world, every single monastery, holy place, individual house, every single holy object, statue, stupa, scripture completely destroyed, negative karma heavier than that, even such this abandoning holy Dharma, this negative karma gets purified by seeing the Mitukpa mantra. And criticizing the arya Sanghas, arhats, arya bodhisattvas, buddhas, criticized the arya Sanghas, those very heavy negative karma get purified, even those.

So it is very good, the Mitukpa mantra to have in the house, to write down nicely and then put it above the door, especially where people can see. And that is one of the methods when somebody is dying, to give that as present, Mitukpa mantra, to look at it, to put next to the pillow or something. The card that I made to give people who are dying that one has the Mitukpa mantra and there is a few other very powerful mantras, that which are similar benefit to that by just looking at it, even the five uninterrupted negative karmas get purified, the mantras there. The one with the deities on the card that I made some years ago to help dying person, so it has, even the person can’t read, just seeing, it gives liberation. So then no question if one does recite then, at the time of death, if one does every day recitation then the Buddha will come, Mitukpa Buddha will come to you then he will invite you, come here, so at the time of death, so saves from the lower realms and pure land, like that.

So one lama, ?Lhatsun Dorje Chang, Yeshe Dondrub Denpa Gyaltsen, so this lama in the life story afraid of getting reborn in the lower realms so he did Kunrig retreat five times then on top of that, afraid of negative karma collected from many lifetimes so this lama did one year Mitukpa retreat. So anyway, just part of story. So this is very, very powerful. So extremely worthwhile those who [pause] came for the retreat and then even those who don’t have time to do retreat now, but if you can do recitation of mantra every day, whatever one can do, that’s excellent. The other one is retreat in the future, or to do some recitation every day that’s very good.
