Paralysis and Loss of Hearing

Paralysis and Loss of Hearing

A student had developed paralysis on the left side of her face, which went away after two months, but she subsequently lost her hearing in the left ear. She had worked on a project for 28 days straight, and she says she neglected her daily practice during this time. She felt that there could be some spirit harm and asked Rinpoche for advice.

Dear one,
You need to receive the purification practice chab trü eight times. Some lamas can do this practice; request Geshe-la to do it for you.

It's also good to recite the name of the Buddha Eliminating Paralysis and Lightning. If you recite the two mantras seven times a day you don't get a second or third paralysis. If a female experiences paralysis on the left side, it's easier for her to recover. It would be good to recite the practice; it will give you some idea, a basis. At least you can recite the mantras.

The Most Secret Hayagriva Mantra is also very, very good to recite. Do five malas, reciting the mantra and making requests to the deity. Hayagriva Mantra: HRIH VAJRA KHRODA HAYAGRIVA HULU HULU HUM PHAT

Try to live your life with bodhicitta, not only in meditation but in any activity. We need to free sentient beings from the oceans of samsaric suffering and bring them to enlightenment. With bodhicitta, every single activity collects limitless merit and becomes the most powerful purification practice and the cause of enlightenment. It is the cause of happiness—first the happiness of future lives in a deva or human realm, but at least not being reborn in the lower realms; then the ultimate happiness of liberation from samsara. But greater than that is to achieve enlightenment, to free the numberless hell beings, hungry ghosts, animals, human beings, asuras and suras from the oceans of samsaric suffering and bring them to full enlightenment. For that we need to achieve enlightenment.

If you need more explanation, discuss this with a lama or an older student who has studied very well.

With much love and prayer...
