Akashagarbha Mantra for Success

Akashagarbha Mantra for Success

Rinpoche gave this advice regarding the mantra of the bodhisattva Akashagarbha. This mantra has unbelievable benefits and is especially beneficial when you are going to speak to someone or request something, or when success is particularly important. When giving this advice, Rinpoche had also asked the student to recite four malas of the mantra.

The mantra of Akashagarbha, with calligraphy by Lama Zopa Rinpoche.

This mantra of the bodhisattva Akashagarbha [Tib: Nam mkha'i snying po; Essence of the Sky] has unbelievable benefits. Not only can you recite the mantra, you can also wear it.

You can wear it all the time except when you go to sleep at night as it might go under your arms or shoulders, and negative karma will be created if the mantra goes under your body. Otherwise, you may wear it all the time, and especially when you are going to speak to someone or request something, or when success is particularly important.

Of course, without meditating, just wearing the mantra to achieve extensive realizations and enlightenment, it doesn’t happen. From your own side, you have to have good karma. Good karma for success is like a big fund. Good karma, or merit, is like the seed for the crops, and the mantra is like the water and soil. If the good karma is there, the mantra helps it to be ripened quickly. [Then] by merely wearing this mantra, reciting it daily, and revealing it to others, all your wishes and hopes are fulfilled. It is especially good for anyone who needs to see people such as a neighbor or a government person [with whom there is difficulty], to recite this mantra.

Once there was a problem when a center bought a new house and they made an outside deck right up against the neighbor’s bedroom window. People could see into the window, thus affecting the neighbor’s privacy. Understandably, she didn’t like it. She complained to the government, who then came to check the situation and told the center to change the whole thing. I sent this mantra for all the staff at the center who were going to the government office to wear for their success. Afterwards, they had to change [only] some things.

One student also used this mantra for her business activities. She had a secretary who was always shouting and criticizing. On that day that the student asked her to hold this mantra in her hand, the secretary, instead of being angry and fighting or criticizing, completely changed. She was gentle and more respectful, totally different. It was a big surprise for them.

Reciting the Mantra

OM SVASTI KAMALAKSI VIPULA SAMBHAVA / DHARMADHATU GOCARA SVAHA

Wearing the Mantra

If you want to wear the mantra, print or copy it and then [consecrate it by] reciting the Heart Mantra of Dependent Relation three or more times, starting it with NAMO RATNA TRAYAYA as follows:

NAMO RATNA TRAYAYA / OM YE DHARMA HETU PRABHAVA HETUN TEṢAN TATHAGATO HYAVADAT / TESAN CA YO NIRODHA EVAM VADI MAHASRAMANAYE SVAHA

Think that all the wisdom of the buddhas and bodhisattvas is absorbed into this mantra; visualize this very strongly [as you recite].

Note: According to Lama Zopa Rinpoche, when reciting the Heart Mantra of Dependent Relation, you must pause at “CA YO,” otherwise the meaning of the mantra is changed.
