LYWA Multimedia: Guru Puja is the Heart Practice

By Kyabje Lama Zopa Rinpoche

Guru Puja is the Heart Practice is a multimedia series based on teachings given by Lama Zopa Rinpoche at the Light of the Path retreat held in North Carolina, USA, in 2009. The series is edited by Ven. Sarah Thresher with Megan Evart. Please note that the Guru Puja is a Highest Yoga Tantra practice.

Making Requests to the Gurus is our latest title in this multimedia series.

Making Requests to the Gurus

The reason why we make one-pointed requests to the gurus is to receive their blessings in our hearts ... so that our minds can be transformed into the Dharma.

- Lama Zopa Rinpoche

In order for our meditation on the lamrim to be effective in transforming our minds into the Dharma, we must first receive the guru’s blessings. To receive these blessings, we must generate the mind of devotion and then make strong, single-pointed requests to our personal gurus as well as to the lineage gurus.

In this fourth multimedia title of the Guru Puja is the Heart Practice series, Lama Zopa Rinpoche teaches the chanting and instructions for making requests to the gurus and receiving their blessings prior to the meditation on the stages of the path to enlightenment.

Making Requests to the Gurus brings together video, audio and images to accompany Rinpoche’s teachings and commentary on the Guru Puja's series of requests for the guru’s blessings that follow the seven-limb practice and long mandala offering in the Guru Puja, culminating in the Special One-Pointed Request (LC 54), Receiving the Blessings of the Four Empowerments (LC 55) and with a replica of the guru-buddha entering our heart.
