This book contains the teachings and meditations Lama gave at a five-day retreat he led near Melbourne, Australia. It is dedicated to the awakening of inner freedom within the minds of its readers and all other sentient beings.
In Lama Yeshe’s and Lama Zopa Rinpoche’s first trip to Europe in 1975 they offered a weekend seminar based on their famous month-long Kopan meditation courses. Preceded by Lama Yeshe’s lecture on meditation at Kensington Town Hall, these teachings at Royal Holloway College, Surrey, encompass the entire Buddhist path to enlightenment.
A compilation of teachings on the path to enlightenment (lamrim) given by His Holiness the Dalai Lama, Kyabje Ling Rinpoche, Kyabje Trijang Rinpoche, Khunu Lama Rinpoche, Tsenshab Serkong Rinpoche, Zong Rinpoche, Geshe Lhundub Sopa, Geshe Rabten and other great Tibetan lamas.
This expanded edition contains both of the very popular Lama Yeshe booklets, Becoming Your Own Therapist and Make Your Mind an Ocean. This book contains public talks on Buddhism and the mind, and includes question and answer sessions, as well as a lecture on the Buddhist approach to mental illness.
The first teaching in this book, The Three Principal Aspects of the Path, is an introduction to the path to enlightenment. The second teaching, Introduction to Tantra, comprises the first two lectures of a commentary on the Chenrezig yoga method and is a wonderful explanation of the fundamentals of tantric practice.
The six teachings contained herein come from Lama Yeshe’s 1975 visit to Australia. The first three are a series of consecutive evening lectures Lama gave at Melbourne University, and the last three teachings are public lectures given in Sydney. They are all filled with love, insight, wisdom and compassion, and the question-and-answer sessions Lama loved so much are as dynamic and informative as ever.
By pulling together some of Lama Yeshe’s introductory teachings on Buddhism, meditation, compassion and emptiness, and combining them with the definitive explanation of tantra, this one valuable volume will inspire students to go more deeply into the Yoga Method of Buddha Maitreya–a tantric practice.
In this book, Lama Zopa Rinpoche teaches on one of his favorite topics—compassion. He tells us that compassion for others is the best way to overcome any obstacles we encounter, in our Dharma practice, or occupation and life itself, and the best medicine for treating any illness we experience. Rinpoche also explains emptiness, karma and many other essential Buddhist subjects.
In this book, Lama Zopa Rinpoche explains the importance of the spiritual teacher and advises how to train the mind in guru devotion, the root of the path to enlightenment.
