E-letter Special Mailing October 2009

By Nicholas Ribush

Dear Friends of LYWA,

Thank you so much for your support. We couldn’t do what we do without it.

We have just sent our new books, Teachings from the Medicine Buddha Retreat and Freedom Through Understanding, to our members (both books) and benefactors (the latter). We hope you enjoy them. More books are in the pipeline. We have also added many teachings (written and audio) to our website recently and invite you to enjoy those as well.

All this work is made possible through the dedicated work of our paid and volunteer staff. And, like any organization, we have overhead costs that must be met.

\"In our recent survey of LYWA supporters, the activity that was identified as most important for the Archive was "Collecting and preserving the recordings of Lama Yeshe and Lama Zopa Rinpoche" –- even more important than publishing books. Survey respondents were right on in their analysis because, of course, without collecting and preserving the teachings there wouldn’t be anything to publish. A large percentage of our staff, office and technology costs are related to collecting and preserving the teachings, costs that are primarily supported by donations to our general fund.

We are asking you to support our operating costs, which usually fall between $20,000 and $30,000 a month. We need to raise $50,000 by the end of the year. By helping us with these expenses you will be supporting the core work of the Archive, which enables us to fufill our mission of making the dharma available for the benefit of all.

Please make your donation here. If you received our new books and are enjoying them, please consider making a donation to support the production of more books like these. And remember, your donation of $25 or more entitles you to automatically receive a copy of any free book we publish in the next year.

Thank you so much for your kindness,

Much love
\"
