Rinpoche's Thank-you Cards, Letters and Gifts
Get Well
Rinpoche sent the following card and a bunch of flowers to a student who had been Lama Yeshe’s nurse and was now in hospital having an operation.
My very dear Annette,
Wow!! What an enlightening experience you are having. As you are a great loving mother, I am sure there will be no problems and everything will be taken care of, because you have created the cause by taking care of so many other people.
You are in my prayers, always...
Card With Gifts
Rinpoche sent the following card, with some gifts, to a student.
My most dear Terry,
How are you? I was very happy we met in Seattle. These last few days the thought of you has been arising very strongly, so I am sending this card to you. I hope you enjoy it. These stones are for your mandala. This ring is for your finger. You can make an offering of it to yourself as the deity Tara, or Vajrayogini, or another deity, but especially yourself as the guru.
With big love and prayer...
Card and Gift for Student
Rinpoche sent the following card to a student, with a gift.
My most dear Lorraine,
Please enjoy this pearl earring. You can decorate yourself as Tara.
Please enjoy this koala bear. This represents me, I to you. Sometimes you can talk to him like you are talking to me.
Please continue with a warm heart, love and compassion for everybody, even for the mosquito bugs, OK? Have faith in Buddha, Dharma, and Sangha, no matter how difficult life is, especially when you experience death.
Kind Heart Brilliance
Rinpoche sent the following small handwritten card to a student.
My dearest Jackie,
How are you? I was very happy to see you there. I’m happy every time I see you. Thank you very much your kind heart brilliance. Please liberate all suffering sentient beings.
With big love and prayer...
Thanks for Book
Rinpoche received a book from a student, who had written the book, and sent her this card.
My very dear Mary,
Thank you very much for your kind letter and book. It looks like you have produced a wonderful book. I will pray that it is able to benefit many sentient beings.
I hope you are well. I remember for many years you were director of the institute, after the others started the center, after they came to the fourth Kopan course in Nepal.
The most important thing in this life is Dharma. What makes one’s life most meaningful is to do everything with bodhicitta. Please meditate on the lamrim and live your life with a bodhicitta motivation. When you live life with a bodhicitta motivation, then everything you do will benefit others. That makes your life the best and most meaningful. Also, you will have no regrets now and in the future, you will have happiness and peace now and in the future, and liberation and enlightenment.
With much love and prayers...
Thanking Students For Practice
Rinpoche sent the following letter to nuns and students at a Dharma center, thanking them for their practice.
My very dear nuns and students,
First, I want to say many billions and zillions of thanks for putting so much effort into counting the mani mantras this year, and trying to fulfill my advice. Thank you very much for that. I dedicate the merits to all those who did the recitations. Again, I want to say thank you very much.
In Buddha’s teachings it mentions there are so many amazing benefits of developing compassion. It is so important, and the benefits are unbelievable. Without developing compassion for others, there is no enlightenment; this means for yourself, but also for the numberless sentient beings of each of the six realms.
You can see how important it is to develop compassion. For that you need to receive blessings from the special deity Chenrezig. Therefore, you need to do meditation on and recitation of Chenrezig, just having knowledge alone is not enough.
With much love and prayers...
