Rinpoche's Thank-you Cards, Letters and Gifts
Thanks for Volunteering
A thank-you letter from Rinpoche, offered and read out to all the volunteers at the 2014 Light of Path retreat held in North Carolina, USA.
My very dear, very precious, very kind wish-fulfilling ones,
Also to all the organizers of the Light of the Path retreat. Thank you sooooooooooooo much for your really beautiful, amazing, joyful dedication, really beautifully done, all your service, well done!
Taking care of sentient beings from the heart, so this is the really most meaningful life. Cherishing sentient beings and serving them, as well as serving the teachings of the Buddha to educate sentient beings to practice and actualize the path, in order to free them from the oceans of samsaric sufferings, not only that, but to achieve the peerless happiness, the state of omniscient mind.
Numberless bodhisattvas abandon cherishing the I and totally change that into cherishing others and serving numberless sentient beings, like the numberless hell beings, numberless hungry ghosts, numberless animals, numberless human beings, numberless suras, numberless asuras and numberless intermediate state beings.
Numberless buddhas only cherish the sentient beings, including yourself, and numberless bodhisattvas only cherish the sentient beings, including yourself.
Numberless bodhisattvas collected extensive merits and practiced the path to enlightenment for all sentient beings and for you. Numberless buddhas became enlightened for all sentient beings and also for you—such as Shakyamuni Buddha, who taught the 84,000 teachings for all sentient beings and for you, and Lama Atisha and Lama Tsongkhapa and so forth, who taught the essence of the Buddhadharma, the lamrim, for all sentient beings and also for you.
Therefore what you are doing is most pleasing to all the buddhas and bodhisattvas, by cherishing sentient beings and taking care of them and serving them. Wow, wow, wow. This is also fulfilling the holy wishes of His Holiness the Dalai Lama, who is actually Chenrezig. So you are serving His Holiness the Dalai Lama and of course me, little mouse, you are fulfilling my wishes as well.
So here I would like to express two quotations. The great enlightened being, Tibetan Lama Sakya Pandita, said with his great experience:
The merit you collect by making charity of your limbs for a thousand eons, giving away your head, legs and so forth and even dedicating that merit to sentient beings, can all be collected in one second by the Guru path.
So therefore it is really, really, really amazing, so meaningful what you are doing. Also Sakya Pandita mentioned in the text Drop of Mahamudra:
As fire burns wood and turns it into ashes in one second, like that if the glorified Guru is pleased, in one second the negative karmas are burned.
Just as matches are used to light a candle and make the candle flame, also a tiny flame can burn a few stories of hay so quickly or a whole mountain can be burned just from a tiny flame. In the same way, so much heavy negative karma that has been collected from thousand, millions, billions and trillions of past lives can be purified in one second, just by pleasing the Guru.
Wow, wow, wow. It’s the most powerful purification. So much heavy negative karma that one has collected in past lives gets purified in one second by pleasing the Guru.
Thank you very much. I hope to see you again soon.
With much love and prayers...
Thanks for Service and Advice about Pure Land
Rinpoche sent this letter to an old student who had served as a director of many centers.
My most dear, most precious, most kind, wish-fulfilling one,
First I would like to thank you from the depths of my heart, from the time you came to the sixth meditation course, then working on the book and for so many years offering service at the center, and for your dedication to Lama Yeshe and to the little one, me, and to His Holiness the Dalai Lama and so many sentient beings.
For so many years you made the center so welcoming and so worthwhile to sentient beings. It is becoming more and more beneficial to the sentient beings, even though there are only a few staff members. Then at __ center, for many years you made the center so welcoming, so good and so beneficial for so many people. Then at __ center, I haven’t been there for a long time, but today I was speaking to one student from there and she said it is so welcoming and so nice for people, with a coffee shop and a garden, so I really should go and visit.
Also many times a day you are praying for my heath, so thank you very much. My sickness is not so heavy, but it was a right side stroke. For a man it’s more difficult to recover when it’s on the right side, but for women a stroke on the left side is worse. It is some warning that I must be careful; it’s telling me that I must practice Dharma.
The Vajrayogini thangka I sent you should be very helpful when your life ends, to guide you to Vajrayogini’s pure land. You shouldn’t think it’s just a thangka, think you’re looking at the real Vajrayogini and make strong requests. Vajrayogini sends a hook to your crown and snatches out your consciousness. It is hooked by Vajrayogini who takes it straight back into the heart.
In Vajrayogini's pure land all the dakas and dakinis are playing gyaling music to welcome you, as you become oneness with Vajrayogini’s heart, nondual bliss and void—the mandala is nondual bliss and void. You will go to the pure land of Vajrayogini. You will fly, you will shoot up to Vajrayogini’s pure land, then you will be born in a lotus so you can listen to teachings from Vajrayogini.
I just came from the 100 Million Mani Retreat held recently in Mongolia. Many Mongolians attended and they recited 108 million OM MANI PADME HUM mantras, so they did eight million extra mantras. We want to have the 100 Million Mani Retreat as an annual event in Mongolia. About 60 Westerners attended, mostly nuns and one monk. A benefactor sponsored the Sangha to attend the retreat.
Now I am in the USA for two months or less, then I will go to Kopan for the November course, then the Most Secret Hayagriva lungs in South India, then I will attend His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s teachings. I hope you enjoy my symbolic presents to thank you.
With much love and prayers...
Welcome to Enlightenment
A student wrote asking for preliminary practices after helping at the center for a long time. Rinpoche sent this message with the practices.
My most dear, most kind, most precious, wish-fulfilling one,
Most welcome to enlightenment and most welcome to freeing numberless sentient beings from the oceans of samsaric sufferings and bringing them to full enlightenment.
Thank you very much for all your service and dedication to His Holiness the Dalai Lama, Lama Yeshe, myself, and to FPMT, to the teachings of Buddha, to all sentient beings, to every sentient being, to every ant in all the universes, to every single fish in the Pacific Ocean—even the very tiniest that you can't see with your eye, but only with a machine, and the biggest the size of a mountain—even to every mosquito, every worm, every chicken, every goat, cat, dog, and every small fly that flies away when you walk on the grass; so like this for every sentient being.
Thank you very much, most welcome.
With much love and prayers...
Thanks for Long Life Practices
Rinpoche sent thanks to everyone who had been doing practices for his health and long life.
My very, very dear friends,
From my heart I would like to express billions, zillions, trillions of thanks. I highly appreciate you doing practices for me. This is also puja for yourself. Even if you don’t think that, it naturally happens like that, as it is very powerful karma.
I highly appreciate all of you being good human beings practicing the Dharma—not only wanting to achieve temporary happiness in the future, but also wanting to be free from the oceans of samsaric suffering and to free all sentient beings from the oceans of suffering and for them to achieve the highest peerless happiness, enlightenment, the omniscient mind. This is so important, the utmost need—generally to live your life for others, to bring happiness to others.
Again, my deep appreciation to all of you.
With much love and prayer...
Thanks for Tara Mantras
A student offered 60,000 White Tara mantras to Rinpoche for his long life and good health. This was in addition to 40,000 mantras she had offered previously. She also thanked Rinpoche for manifesting in her life and teaching Dharma.
My most dear, most kind, precious Lara,
Billions of thanks for your kind letter and thank you for making your life meaningful. This precious life, especially the perfect human rebirth, is received just about one time. Thank you for all the thousands of Tara mantras.
With much love and prayer...
Thanks for Mitukpa Mantras
A card sent to students who had recited 700,000 Mitukpa mantras.
My most dear students,
Whose heart is filled with peace, great joy and bliss, by having generated loving kindness and devotion. A billion, zillion, million thanks for having recited the Mitukpa mantra more than 700,000 times. It is unbelievable.
Now maybe recite some Tara Praises for the success of wishes, so that all the projects— especially the project of Maitreya Buddha—and the organization, can liberate all sentient beings as quickly as possible from the ocean of suffering of samsara and enlighten them quickly.
With prayer and big love...
