A student wrote that her husband’s Alzheimer’s disease had become considerably worse. He needed constant supervision and was belligerent and physically abusive toward his carers. [Please note: If you or someone you know is experiencing any form of violence and abuse, please seek help from a suitable support service in your region.]

My most dear, most kind, most precious, wish-fulfilling one,
I received your message about your husband’s Alzheimer’s and also that he is becoming verbally and physically abusive. This is what came out:

Recite the Praises to the Twenty-one Taras. Visualize Tara above the crown of his head, then nectar descends and purifies all his negative karma and negative thoughts such as anger, etc., which are the cause of all obscurations. Think that the negative karma collected since beginningless rebirth is totally purified.

Then think that all the realizations are generated in him, such as correctly following the virtuous friend, up to full enlightenment. Think that he achieves all the realizations in this life in his heart. Then in your heart, but first in his heart. Think that and recite the Praises to the Twenty-one Taras and pray strongly to Tara. It comes out very good to do this every day for him.

You can also recite the short mantra to pacify anger—five, six, seven or more times if you want—but what came out most was the Praises to the Twenty-one Taras.

With much love and prayers ...
