Day One Part Three : Oral Transmission Begins

So just read one or two pages from, oral transmission from Sutra.

Oral transmission [15.29]

By this merit having offered mandala to kind compassionate Guru Shakyamuni Buddha, it is your kindness that this time I have met the teachings of the peerless founder, by this merit may all sentient beings meet the teachings of the sublime leader, you, the Guru Shakyamuni Buddha and you, the Guru Shakyamuni Buddha, you trained your mind in compassion for numberless eons, sacrificed your life, your wealth, surrounding family, so forth, for three countless great eons and completed two types of merit and actualised two kayas and revealed to us sentient beings the unmistaken path. May I bring all the sentient beings in this unmistaken path and cause them to achieve enlightenment as quick as possible.

So as I mentioned before about compassion, if there is compassion within oneself, if there is compassion within one’s own heart then the numberless sentient beings, starting from one’s own family members, the people, animals who are around oneself, from there numberless sentient beings, they don’t receive harm from you and there is peace and happiness what they receive from you. First of all, just stop giving harm others, give compassion. Then on top of that by developing strong compassion, the numberless sentient beings they receive additional benefit, peace and happiness. So numberless sentient beings, peace and happiness what they receiving from you up to, say, up to enlightenment, temporary happiness, ultimate happiness, up to enlightenment, what they receive from you, from you the one person, so that is completely in your hand. Depending on whether one generate compassion towards others or not totally depend on that.

So therefore everyone of us here have full responsibility the happiness of all the, happiness, peace of all the sentient beings, temporary and ultimate, liberation from samsara, enlightenment, everything, which they receive from you, that one has responsibility. Which they receive from you, you have responsibility.

So therefore now, now here, so the greatest benefit to the sentient beings that is to bring them in full enlightenment, the peerless happiness. This is what you need to achieve. By checking, by checking everyday life what they wish, you know, how they seek happiness, one can understand from that. For example when they go, when they go for shopping they look, what they buy, they buy something that which will last long time, best quality, up to what they can afford, they buy the best quality, material you see, you know, up to what they can afford, you know. That long lasting better quality. So greater happiness, longer lasting. So that shows, even they don’t know about enlightenment can be achieved, you see, but this is what they need, it expresses this is what they need to achieve. So like that.

So then to do that, no way other to do that, without oneself, without achieving full enlightenment. For that then, to achieve that then one need to actualise path. It doesn’t happen without cause, conditions, one need to actualise path to enlightenment. So the graduate path of higher capable being, that depends on preliminary actualising graduate path of middle capable being, that depends on actualising the preliminary graduate path of lower capable beings, so all that. From the root, correct devoting virtuous friend.

So here, therefore I am going to take oral transmission of the Golden Light Sutra, the most precious teachings of the, one of the most precious teaching of Buddha. So by listening the reading, listening the Golden Light Sutra, it directs one’s own life towards enlightenment. It doesn’t go down, only up. The benefit comes in the text. And then reading the Golden Light Sutra, for example here in Barcelona, if you read the Golden Light Sutra it becomes healing, it becomes healing all the sick people, how many sick people there in Barcelona, it becomes healing for them, all the sick people Barcelona, it is mentioned there. And this, reading this text, just listen this is unbelievable purification, purifying one’s negative karma. And then reading this text, here, the Golden Light Sutra, this particular text, the particular benefit of this is very much to bring peace and happiness in the world, in the country where one lives, in the area to bring peace and happiness. So particular this Golden Light Sutra, that’s the particular benefit. So it’s very, I think it’s very important, very important especially the present world situation problem, I think it’s very important to… as many people can read this, many people can read this, I think is so important. So this, reading this teaching has all this power. Talks so much, you know, how it brings, you know, so happiness in the country by reading the text.

So I wish, endorse, in the countries where there is lot of violence, lot of killing, you know, if somebody can read this in that country, will be great benefit. Like Iraq where there is constantly bombing and constant … recently, few days ago, suicide bomb, some people died but then was 600 people they run away and they run away on the bridge, the bridge broke, all the 600 people drown in the water, in Iraq, can imagine. So all this is constantly happening.

So from Singapore, some armies, some Singapore armies went to Iraq recent time, so one, one student from Amitabha Buddhist Centre, one of the FPMT centre, he was leader of the army, leader of the army. His target is to liberate one hundred million animal, one hundred million, he dedicated for His Holiness long life. So up to now he liberated, I don’t … how many? Huh? Up to now he liberated fourteen million animals. So he targeted to liberate one hundred million animal. So some people who tell me that they have cancer, so I tell them to send their name there, put some donation. So some people get recovered because lot of animals he liberates, you see. You buy from place where they are going to be killed and then you, not only put them back into water but the method to, you put many stupas on the table and many statues, then take them round in the truck. You put all those fish, frogs in the truck. So truck goes around, whole truck goes round, you see, set up all the altar for them, all the stupas, with all the powerful mantras, you see, water offerings. The truck, inside the truck there is all these many, many … so truck whole time goes round. So it’s very easy, go round. Then go back to liberate. So some people, you know, who sent their name there, they get recovered because for cancer, liberating animals, causing others to have long life is one of the method, one method for you to have long life.

Then the other one is recitation of mantras, you know, against, deities who are against nagas, you see, able to heal.

Anyway, so this army, this … so when he was doing training, sometimes they have to stop, doing the training, sometimes they have to stop a few minutes, then he does his prayers, he does his mantras, he does his commitments while he is standing, while he is, he does his mantras, while he standing or sitting down. And then he does … before he goes away, he does, so four, five hours practice in the morning, all this commitments, all the things, then he goes to army. But in the army he gives advise for them, compassion, he talks, advise the army, education is compassion. So like that.

So anyway … what I was I going to tell, the point is … oh yeah, so some army from Singapore went to Iraq, so of course, with my advertising the Golden Light Sutra, I think, they know very well. So I think they, so I think they gave some text, took text to Iraq and to, maybe among those armies, there is some who, I think, read. So I think especially present world situation like this, nothing … so insecure. I think many people can read this, as much as possible, you know, you don’t have to finish all, even few lines, everyday you read one page, it’s so good, it’s yum yum. (Rinpoche laughs) It’s yum yum (Rinpoche laughs) it’s really yum yum...

... so page missing, the top part is, I don’t know what happened, maybe taken by wind, or, I am not sure. The first chapter the very beginning page missing. So maybe I find tomorrow that. I didn’t check before. (Rinpoche laughs) I brought missing text.

This is shorter than elaborate version, middle version, this is short version, I think the one, say, what’s the name, who translated the book?

So some, quite a number of years ago, I don’t know how many years, one of the times when I was in Spain, I asked him to translate in Spanish, so this is the first translation that was done in the organisation. So I think there is translation of the shorter version of this one. Of course my one is first chapter, some missing, first, I think, I am not sure. So I will look for the page that is missing. So I stop here.

So this is how I found out, this was in Mongolia. I went to one doctor’s, Mongolian doctor’s house, who is married with the sister of the Dr Renuka Singh who is the director of the Tushita Mahayana Centre in Delhi. So I met him there in the past. So didn’t happen to go to see his house the first time but it happened second time, I think maybe second time or third I am not sure. So in his house, the Golden Light Sutra is very famous in Mongolia due to maybe some past, whether the 7th Dalai Lama, who gave incredible help Mongolia, to propagate dharma, such strong Dharma, Buddhism established in Mongolia for so many years. One monastery, Ganden Monastery has one hundred thousand monks, one hundred thousand monks, the Ganden Monastery near Ulan Batar, and they said, when the monks went out for pee pee, you know, pee pee, you see, so they said that in the beach, you know, where pee pee goes, even the small baby, small baby get carried out, you know, small baby, taken away by pee pee, you know, because so many monks, lot of pee pee. In the ditch, you know, small baby, that’s what they say. The pee pee, you know, in the ditch small baby get carried away. (Rinpoche laughs)

Anyway, I think, unbelievable the … so long, so strong Buddhism was established there and lamas and all the tradition. However maybe due to kindness the 7th Dalai Lama… since this was introduced there in Mongolia and it is said that almost everybody, many people’s house they have this text. So this doctor’s house they have the text, you know, piled up, you know, put very high, very high, put very high. So I said I want to look at those texts. Very, very high up.

So the first text that I opened was the Golden Light Sutra. So then the first one I saw, the very first line I saw, what inspired me was, “just by hearing this, all your negative karma get purified.” This is the very first time, the first line I saw, probably if I’ve seen some other lines, I may not have, I many not have, may not be inspired or may not have gone through the text. So the first line, I saw that one. So then I didn’t bother to read. I just said, “Can I borrow this?”

I brought it to my room, then I thought to read in the market like the, like Kunu Lama Rinpoche used to read, give teachings in the road, in Sarnath, you see, where people go, outside, you see, in the ground, Rinpoche gave teachings. So I thought, since it has that benefit, people hearing their negative karma get purified, you know, so to go in the market and read loudly. So I went to market to read, probably bigger than this, you know, Mongolian boot, Mongolian boots, full of Mongolian boot, there was no where to sit. Outside there are cars going round, so came back, then I thought to read outside the house cos some people going back and forth. But that didn’t happen.

Then went to, went back to New York, visit, Richard Gere’s house, that time Ribur Rinpoche was doing retreat there, so he asked me to come there to do retreat. So I went there to do retreat. So that time, I didn’t have the text, I borrowed, there is from Sera Me one American monk, Geshe Michael Roach, he went to Mongolia, he had just come back. So I thought he might have. So one of his students borrowed, so I read.

It’s amazing, so amazing, the main thing is it brings peace and happiness in the world, you see, in the country, unbelievable benefit. So then I put on the head so that I will spread this teaching in many different languages translate, available in the world. To offer service to Buddha.

So this has been translated now in a few languages. Spanish, this is the first time. Then a few other languages, I think. Maybe some are finished, maybe are, how say … I forgotten now.

Due to all the three time merit collected by me, by others, may the bodhicitta be generated in one’s own heart, one’s own family members, all of us here, in the hearts of all the sentient beings and particular in this world, and in particular in the hearts of all the leaders of the world. And as well as in the hearts of all the terrorists, those sentient beings, their hearts, as well as anybody who has vicious thought, vicious thought to harm others, may the bodhicitta be generated in all their hearts, without delay even a second. In whose heart bodhicitta is generated may it be increased.

The real, all this incredible opportunity for me to collect merit, to give this teaching and for you to listen, all this, unbelievable purification by listening this and collect unbelievable merit, directs life towards enlightenment, all this. Then opportunity we have is due to solely by Buddha of Compassion, His Holiness’s kindness. As well as everyday that we have incredible opportunity to practice dharma and make, each time make closer to, each time make closer to enlightenment, each day. That is by His Holiness’s kindness. So therefore we dedicate the merits His Holiness to have stable life, all the holy wishes be succeed immediately.

Due to all the three time merit collected by me, by others, that which is empty, from its own side, may the I who is also empty from its own side, achieve Guru Shakyamuni Buddha’s enlightenment which is also empty from its own side. Lead all the sentient beings who are also empty from their own side. To that Guru Shakyamuni Buddha’s enlightenment which is also empty from its own side, by myself alone who is also empty from its own side.

I dedicate all the merits to be able to follow ---------- Buddha, Samandrabhadra, Manjugosha as they realised. I dedicate all the merits to be able, in the same way as three time buddhas dedicate their merit.

And due to all the three time merits collected by others, by oneself, may the general teaching of Buddha, particular Lama Tsong Khapa’s teaching may it be spread in all the directions, may it flourish in this world, completely actualising all those heart, by completely actualising within one’s own heart, and in the heart of all of us here, in the heart of everyone this world.
