The Lama Yeshe Wisdom Archive is pleased to offer professionally retouched portraits of Lama Yeshe and Lama Zopa Rinpoche.

You can also see all the portraits in more detail or view them as a slideshow in the LYWA Photo Gallery.

These portraits were restored by photo specialist David Zinn, who explains that for some photos, he made subtle adjustments to the color balance and image sharpness, while for others he did a radical overhaul in which the background was replaced or recreated entirely. The intention was to keep a natural feeling in the composition and to let the spirit of the original photo of the Lamas reveal itself.

They are museum grade prints handmade for the Lama Yeshe Wisdom Archive using some of the finest materials available. They are printed using an archival combination of pigmented inks (Ultrachrome K3 series) on a 100% cotton paper (PremierArt Smooth Fine Art: acid and lignin free, no artificial brighteners), then sprayed with PremierArt PrintShield to protect the prints from moisture and fading due to exposure to light. If framed properly behind glass, the prints are rated by Wilhelm Research Institute to not exhibit signs of fading for well over 150 years.

To view all the available images in more detail, to find out more about the retouching and printing process, or to order a print, please go to Heart of the Moon Media. We have kept our prices as low as possible, seeking to cover only the costs of refinishing and printing these portraits.

We have produced these portraits to offer Dharma Centers and students beautiful pictures of the Lamas for their altars, walls and other appropriate places. The FPMT's Kurukulla Center, Boston, has had one of our 11" x 17" portraits professionally framed. As you can see below, the finished product is outstanding in both beauty and quality.

Below is a close-up of the caption below the picture. If you would like to frame these photos in a similar fashion, click on the image below to access the pdf file.

We'd like to thank David for his help with this project. If you'd like more information about his restortion services, please go here. We'd also like to thank the photographers: Carol Royce-Wilder, Merry Colony, Tony Duff, Ueli Minder, and Jorge Zontal.
