Wim, a Dutch artist who had painted the walls of Lawudo Gompa in 1972, painted a mural of Guru Shakyamuni at Tushita. In 1972, along with a few of their Western students, Lamas Yeshe and Zopa bought an old colonial house on a hill above McLeod Ganj in Dharamsala, India, and there founded Tushita Retreat Centre.
