Teachings from the Mahamudra Retreat (Audio and Unedited Transcript)

By Kyabje Lama Zopa Rinpoche
Adelaide, Australia (Archive #1443)

The following are excerpts of Lama Zopa Rinpoche's teachings at the Mahamudra Retreat hosted by Buddha House, in Mylor, South Australia, from 9 April to 4 May, 2004. These recordings do not form a complete record of the retreat, as they do not include teachings by other Sangha, various prayers and dedications, and portions of the initiations and secret teachings.

Day 3 Part C: Dedication

So, yeah, so maybe we stop here and we tomorrow, tomorrow morning.

[Dedication in Tibetan, short mandala]

Due to all the past, present, future merits collected by me, the three-time merits collected by others, may the bodhicitta be generated within one’s own heart, in the hearts of all the sentient beings, in the hearts of everyone in this world, in the hearts of, especially in this world, and in the hearts of, especially then leaders of this world, in all the hearts of the leaders of this world, all the countries, leaders of all the countries, and then may it be generated in the hearts of all the terrorists and Maoists, all those who are creating so much violence, in their hearts, without delay even a second. That which is generated, may it be increased.

[Jang chub sem chog....]

[Tong nyi ta wai rinpoche.....]

To realize emptiness, so same dedication, then to actualize the two stages within one’s own heart, in the hearts of all of us here, in the hearts of all the students in the organization, all the supporters, and those who give up their life to the organization, doing service to sentient beings, teaching of Buddha, within all of our hearts, and in the hearts of all the sentient beings.

[Rim nyi tog pa rinpoche....]

Due to all the three-time merits collected by me and by others, may I be able to offer limitless skies of benefit to sentient beings, teaching of Buddha, like Lama Tsongkhapa, by having the same quality within me as Lama Tsongkhapa has, from now on in all my future lifetimes.

Due to all the past, present, future merits collected by me, three-time merits collected by others, that which is merely labeled by mind, may the I, who is also merely labeled by mind, achieve Chenrezig Gyalwa Gyatso’s enlightenment, which is also merely labeled by mind, lead all the sentient beings, who are also merely labeled by mind, to that enlightenment, which is also merely labeled by mind, by myself alone, who’s also merely labeled by mind. [Pause]

I dedicate all the merits to be able to follow holy extensive deeds of the bodhisattvas Samantabhadra and Manjugosha, as they realizes.

I dedicate all my merits in the same way as the past, present, future buddhas dedicated their merits.

Due to all the three-time merits collected by me, by others, may the general teaching of Buddha, particularly the teaching of Lama Tsongkhapa, may it be spread in all the directions, may it flourish forever in this world, by completely actualizing within one’s own heart, one’s own family members, all of us here, in the hearts of all the students, benefactors in the organization, and all those who sacrifice their life to the organization doing service to sentient beings, teaching of Buddha, through this organization, to be actualized in all their hearts, in all of those, their hearts.

[Lama Tsongkhapa dedications in Tibetan]

[Gang ri ra wai....]

So tonight, the earlier sleep is to make up the last night one. Yesterday missed, so then those hours of sleep, today’s to put the patch.

So maybe... [inaudible conversation with someone].

Ah, so tomorrow the dream is that to start after breakfast, initiation after breakfast, so....

[Ven. Roger: I think most people are already dreaming.]

[Ven. Sarah checks about when people have to fly out the next day.]

Ah, at six o’clock it’s light? I think there will be light. So breakfast is what time? So, at six o’clock already sun or not, no sun? Sun. Sun rises at 6.30. So, what we can do and what we can’t do, so anyway, I think I would like to start, maybe, if it’s possible 6.30, so before breakfast something, to finish something, whatever it is. So, before breakfast, so gives a little bit more time.

So I think that’s about it. So, good morning. Good morning, so, okay, have a good sleep.

[End of Discourse]
