Benefits of Healing Practices

Just one thing to mention that usually we have, usually there is this concept that when one has disease, only when one has disease then one is going to experience, then that person is going to experience death. There's usually that kind of concept that only when one gets cancer or AIDS, something, then only you die, kind of. With that then kind of associated more, the thought is more, the concept is more of death. Otherwise, otherwise not related, not connected with the death. The point what I want to make is that even today there's so many people, on this earth there's so many people who don't, who are not sick, completely healthy but so many dying by car accident, by other conditions. So many even today. So many even today, dying, so many healthy people. So that who is completely healthy this morning, even today so many dying. So, actually, there are many healthy people who are dying much faster, even today there are many who are dying, than who have sicknesses. So, that concept, if you don't have disease then you don't experience that time death. So particularly, cancer or AIDS, only then death, otherwise no death.

So that, the point that I'm trying to explain, so that concept is wrong, because in reality, reality is not like that. There are so many others who are completely healthy that died, even today many are dying and who have died already.

So therefore, and this thing about the death is the nature of the phenomena, it is part of the nature, after birth then there's death as part of nature. Like even plants they grow and then they die. It's part of the nature of phenomena.

So, it's up to our mind, it is up to our mind that we can, what makes the death kind of something real from its own side, something real death from its own side, or something serious thing or something frightening. So our mind makes that up, our concept makes that up. There's no such thing as death from its own side. There's no such thing as real death, true death, real death existing from its own side. There's no such thing. Something frightening, there's no such thing from its own side. Our mind, our concept, our mind makes it up. So therefore our mind we can make...

[tape change]

... also very enjoyable, we can transform in happiness, very enjoyable, peaceful, exciting, happy path.

So, that our mind has all the potentials, all the hopes, especially by having this precious human body. This gives incredible opportunity that the mind has all the potentials and especially by having this precious human body gives all the opportunities to change, to develop our mind and to switch, to transform the concept of death from something that is undesirable, something frightening into something pleasant and happy path. And most beneficial, we can make the experience most beneficial for one's own mind, developing one's own mind and most beneficial for all other living beings.

So therefore what the point that I'm making is that we should rejoice, we should feel happy, we should rejoice that we live such a long, that we are able to live, so far that the death didn't happen that we able to live so long, for so many years. And we should rejoice this and how fortunate we are and now we have this opportunity to make, to cure, to especially, most important one to develop our mind, to make all our experiences most beneficial, to transform in happiness, everything, most beneficial for all living beings.

So, just my own experience, there's one lady in Canada, one business lady, her name is Ann Coombs, she's a fashion, she makes up the idea of fashion, next year's dresses, fashion, so she does this business, and she gives lots of lectures and each hour I think she used to make $1000 or something by giving talks or something. So she got cancer and then so, through some friend, some student, sent message what she should do. So I sent, suggest some, one mantra to recite. Mantra of one, particular aspect of Buddha, one powerful aspect, one protector, powerful aspect of Buddha. So she recited this and then I also suggest to her to liberate animals, animals who are in danger to be killed. Danger to be killed, to buy and then free them, cause them to have long life. So anyway, she did, I told her to do equaling the number of her life, the age. So actually she did one or two thousand. Chickens, fish, many things, she feed, she took care of them at the farm and gave food I think and maybe some liberate in the water and worms, she buy worms and she liberate around her house in the garden outside.

So, sooner or later after she did this, she was in hospital first and then when she got the message so the doctors told her that, she told, she explained doctor that she wanted to do these things and the doctor say if you have, if you believe in this then you do it, otherwise they would advise her to stay in hospital. Then, so she says she's going to do these things. So she went to do these things and after some time she went for checking at the hospital and she was completely recovered. Her cancer was completely recovered and the doctors in Canada hospital, the doctors they want to write book about her recovery of cancer. So they could not, it become for them very kind of fascinating new phenomena or something. So then she said, I will write the book by myself. She told the doctors. Then she came to Nepal to thank me, she came and then she expressed that giving present the rest of her, the rest of the life that she is able to live. So anyway, then that is one.

One Australian girl, I don't know her name, she's from Melbourne, some number of years ago. So she did, she was in India, so she did some practice called, this Compassion Buddha's practice called Abiding in the Retreat. So it's two days retreat, she did with one Australian, one of the senior Australian monk called Dr Adrian, now he's in Taiwan. He's the one planning to build the monastery at Bendigo. So with him, he guided the retreat. So she did few retreats of this Compassion Buddha in India and then she did mantras, reciting mantra and blowing, blessing the water and then drink. So I don't know how much she did. So anyway the next, after one or two years I met her in London and she was completely well and she was married in London and she looked very brightful and completely well.

Then there's another artist in Canada, who lives in Canada, quite a well known artist, so he had cancer, then another aspect of Buddha, not white Tara but it's another long-life Buddha, Buddha that, who grants long life called Namgyalma, a very powerful for purification. So I advised him to do this practice and he did and also other practices and I think maybe after a few months, maybe two or three months I'm not sure, I don't remember exactly, his cancer was recovered.

And then as far as AIDS, I wanted to do so badly, I wanted to do for the last few years, last one or two years to see, to meet then people and to do something, but it didn't happen. So, last year one girl who just met Dharma, so I was suggesting to her what medicine should be taken. I didn't meet her at that time but I send message, met just short on the road. So she went to, she got the medicine from the Tibetan Medical Centre and then she took the medicine which I suggested and that made her better from the symptoms, the things coming out, those things. And then I think when she came to the West, she's quite new, so I think what happened is that the other people didn't have much, the surrounding people didn't have, discouraged her to take the Tibetan medicine. So then I think she stopped. After she stopped then she said that it again become worse.

So that was the first small experience with the AIDS. So I left quite a bit, just my own idea, by checking, so later at Vajrapani in America, but I didn't find the patients, I didn't meet. But there's in, in Singapore last year or the year before, I think maybe two years ago, there's one young Chinese boy, so he was sent a meditation from India from his guru, from Dharamsala from, by his guru.

So the meditation is mainly on compassion. Actually the meditation is taking other sentient beings, taking other living beings, their AIDS. Taking the other people's problems on oneself. The meditation is completely opposite to, the psychology is completely opposite to what commonly, what we, what common people expect. The common idea is not to receive disease from other people. But here the meditation is out of compassion that you take other people, other living beings AIDS and all the problems take it on oneself, on one's ego, the ego which creates all the problems, which brings all the problems. Then you destroy the ego, the root of the problem, the ego. So that, then with the loving kindness, making charity of one's own body, one's own happiness, cause of happiness, all the good actions, positive energy, the merit to other sentient beings. So this is very special meditation, taking other, rather than being afraid of, taking others, receiving others' problem on oneself, here out of compassion you dedicate yourself, receiving, taking others problems on oneself and then you give your happiness, free them from the problems and you give your happiness and the body, all the good things to other beings.

So he did this practice after, he got the instruction from the lama and then so he did four days, this meditation practice he did four days and after four days he went to hospital and his AIDS was completely recovered. They could not find. The doctors could not find at all. So I asked him how many hours he did the meditation, so he says only three minutes, one day only three minutes. Only, but the point is that I think, he did very little, he did the mediation such a short time, very little time but what happened, but what made him, what made him to recover so fast the disease is because even though the meditation, that special meditation done such, such a, only three minute or four minutes, like that, such a very, very short time, but what happened is, because even though he did such a short time the compassion, the meditation caused to arise unbelievable compassion for others. So much compassion, incredible compassion to all the people who have AIDS. Particularly, all other living beings who have problem particularly those who have AIDS, unbelievable compassion. So during these meditation times, whenever he did meditation, so he had to cry a lot. Not because concerned of his disease or his death, because of others, so many other living beings having problem and those who have AIDS. So unbelievable compassion risen and cried so much. And also he, during those times he felt his guru was around him, always with him. This boy he also has very, very strong devotion. So and that's the feeling what he got, that he was guided.

So the main thing, the point that I was trying to make is what made him to recover so fast is mainly by his own mind, the great compassion, incredible compassion that he felt even in the meditation for such a short time. So that is the only one hundred percent that through meditation is completely recovered. And still, I went a few times to Singapore and I meet him almost every time, he goes to check the hospital again and again. He's, even now he's very well. So that hundred percent was cured what whom I saw, so I, this meditation is known to people who come to meditation courses. This is not secret, it is a known meditation, anyone who come to the usual courses, courses which have the subject on the altruism, called bodhicitta. So therefore, but anyway, to show some evidence so I asked him to give me a copy of his meditation. This boy's meditation that he did, so I have that copy of the meditation to show, for evidence.

So anyway, so these are a few points. So the main point is that we should rejoice, that we should feel very happy, that we are this much able to live long, so many healthy ones died already, even today. So we are extremely fortunate and even though we have some, what the doctors call the some disease but that we have, we still have incredible opportunities to use this, what is called the disease, but actually using this to develop our spiritual, to make spiritual progress, the good heart or the wisdom, to go from happiness to happiness. From happiness to happiness then ultimate, the everlasting happiness, the ever-release from the whole entire problem and causes and highest happiness, full enlightenment, highest happiness, that's the ultimate development, completion of development of the mind.

So, and that is wrong only by having this particular disease then one experiences death, otherwise one don't experience death. That is completely wrong. That to realize that what people usually think that is a wrong concept.

And so now this gives us opportunity to see the, however, to transform all the problems in happiness by developing our wisdom and positive attitude, even the most important point of the life, the death, even that, to make the most beneficial, there's end of death. There's end of death and rebirth, there's end. There's end of the whole entire problem, the sufferings, there's end. But while, there's end, our mind can make, can reach, our mind can bring us to the end, our positive attitude, our wisdom and method. But meantime, while we're developing our mind towards that goal, we have to go through this.

So therefore even while we have the experience but we make it, since we have to go through this we make it worthwhile, beneficial. We make it worthwhile, beneficial, for not only for oneself, but beneficial for everyone, for every other suffering living being we make it beneficial.

We use this as a cause of happiness for every other suffering beings. To free them from all the sufferings and to bring them to temporary happiness and especially ultimate happiness. So that's my point.

So sorry, talked a long time. Thank you. I hope I didn't exhaust you too much. Thank you so much. See you later.
